Poll: How Long do you wait after bottling?

Keg prices maybe different here in England, but though all the research I have with the price of Corny Kegs, 18 kegs would come to around £540, which I *guess* would come to around $1000? How easily can one acquire a corny or any keg in America (cheaply I assume?)? I've had no such luck in the...

    What was your Christmas haul?

Got a Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 digital camera (I LOVE my photography and photoshoppage), wanted a 5 UK gallon Better Bottle fermenter for secondary fermentation (using my bottling buckets at the mo, meaning i have to prime each bottle individually) but unfortunately I didn't get it, but I acquired...

Using milk to stick on labels?

I've used plain A4 paper because I'm cheap *^_^* and I printed with an inkjet printer as well so I've had to be really careful when applying the milk, I just used a very small amount spread all over and it works fine, plus i used a scalpel to cut each label so there isn't a rough edge that will...

    First label

Churned this out on photoshop today, I'm pretty pleased with it and would love to know what you guys think. The sheep was a character from an animation I made a while back of the same name as the beer, I thought it would be cute :cross: Thanks! *^_^*

Using milk to stick on labels?

Polyvinyl acetate, it's the cheap white glue that dries clear. Could be potentially problematic when coming to remove the labels though, unless you use a really small amount. I tried the milk trick, and woah, its works perfectly! :tank: label is solidly stuck on. I used a really small amount...

    Storing priming sugar

There's a website which I have found really helpful when it comes to calculating carbonation: http://hbd.org/cgi-bin/recipator/recipator/carbonation.html Calculates for honey as well. I may try using honey when bottling my next batch, does it matter what type of honey you use? Like fresh...

    Storing priming sugar

Yeah it will be alright, I've got a bag of corn sugar I've bunged in an old ice cream tub since last month and it's been fine, just as long as the container is clean, I don't think there's any need for sterilization.

    Used Bottle caps...

Nope not a good idea, the caps will be damaged from when they were removed, they wouldn't seal properly at all. You can buy bottle caps in bulk quite cheaply, it won't break the bank using new bottle caps, plus you'll save your beer and/or sanitizer :)

    Getting Confused

:off: I live right up the road from that HBS, been perfect for my supplies and the owners practically gave me a crash course in brewing when I first stepped into the shop out of curiosity, and have been hooked ever since :) Back on topic, I'm another Brit finding it hard to move away from...

Try one!!! You've got 40 odd left, you might aswell taste one, even if it's a bit green, go for it! Theres nothing like tasting the fruits of your labour at each stage throughout the process! It all depends on when the suspense starts killing you enough to crack open a bottle! Let us know how...

    Leaking Keg :(

Rrrrright I've patched it up around the spigot... I'll have to check again in the morning to see if it has worked... *prays* Was just wondering if there was any other way, but it seems like tapes gonna have to do! heh.

    Leaking Keg :(

Not entirely sure, I really should have took it apart and check it all, but hmmm I don't think I would have predicted that it would leak.

    Leaking Keg :(

I'm using a King Keg to prime my 2nd batch, used the standard 3/4 cup of corn sugar for priming. Lubricated the top seal, screwed it shut and stuck it in my conservatory. All was going so well until I woke one morning to about 2 pints worth of beer over the floor... the culprit...

    metabisulphate

Campden tablets.... don't sniff the things. The other day I opened the tub of them and had a little whiff... the fumes almost floored me. Curiosity really does kill the cat :(

    My First Brew Ever!!!!

Waaait a minute... You bought all that equipment just for 2 litres of cider? That does sound very strange. Why not go ahead and do the full 20 litres? 2 litres of cider is only around £3-£4. And you spent £20 for the same amount, plus the time required to make it. All...
