First Kit beer - Bottled one week, freaking awesome!

I brewed my first beer the last week of january and it has been bottled about a week now, so I put one in the fridge and chilled it up, time for a taste test.:D And it was great! Nice carb, beautiful colour, and practically no sediment in the bottles. :ban: Still tastes a bit watery but I'm...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

So when I started my first batch, my yeast was dead/old and I ended up with mold forming on the top. I Managed to siphon off and leave the mold behind, threw in a new pkg of EC-1118 and WOW! It took off after about 12 hours and is happily bubbling away, I catch myself checking on it daily! This...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Can't take a picture because the camera got beat up by the cat, but it is definitely mold. Big green patches of it, getting bigger everyday. Well, back to the drawing board. I'll try again next week after I get this mess cleaned up.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I'm totally confused now. My apfelwein has started to develop two small spots of mold on the top, after 4 days. I am certain that everything was washed and sterilized. Anyone have any hints on what I might have done wrong, and is it salvageable? Thanks:(

    Man, I love Apfelwein

All right, so I mixed up a batch of Apfelwein, and set it aside to ferment, BUT I think it was too cold for the yeast. After I parked it in the bathroom (68 o) I looked at the temp strip on the side and it was reading 55, which is the temp of the kitchen at time of mixing. The temp has slowly...

It is a better bottle, from using it the once. Alot easier to handle for me. I couldn't find the Scoop n Save, where is it? Didn't check out Noble Grape either. Maybe next time I'm in town.

Picked up some stuff at Wine Kitz on Smythe st. I'm surprised that they didn't have more beer making supplies, but I guess everyone is more into wine. So I grabbed a couple of extract kits, a better bottle, corn sugar, caps and airlocks.

    Secondary - Better bottle

Hi Folks, I just racked my first beer into a secondary after about 9 days, and I hope I didn't ruin it by screwing up the siphon a couple of times. I was on the mainland for a few days and picked up two more kits. I almost bought the all grain kit but thought I'd better give a few more extract...

Used to live in Fredtown. Live in Grand Manan now, I'm originally from the Island. I was just in Fredericton and picked up supplies. I heard while I was in town that piccaroons will order in supplies, if you are competing in the brew contest that the local brewers are doing. Is that true??

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I'm going to try to make Apfelwein but I'm limited in supplies, the local brew shop is a two hour ferry ride and then an hour drive. My questions are: Can I use a 6.5gal bucket instead of a carboy, and can I use brown sugar instead of corn sugar? Also my yeast is EC-1118, just a packet I had...

    First beer Questions

I will try to be patient... I forgot to mention that I'm fermenting at 68 degrees, in my bathroom of all places! Don't have room or consistent temps anywhere else. I'll leave it and try to forget about it for awhile. Maybe starting another will occupy my mind.

    First beer Questions

I searched but did not find.... I'm wondering how long to leave my Morgans Amber ale in the primary before bottling? I'm guessing about two weeks. I'm also wondering if I should cool it for a bit before I bottle? Lower the temps a bit for the last few days.:p I know there are probably...

    She's about to blow!

Good Info People! I'm in the midst of brewing for the first time and after 2 days in the carboy, I woke up this morning to our three cats watching the foam bubble out of the airlock! I took it out and cleaned it up but I think I'll head to the hardware store and get some hose to rig up a blow...
