Hate to do this, but am stuck fermenation?

That's the kicker here. I had a pretty active fermentation, which has me wondering why my gravity has been stuck since the fourth day after fermentation began. I know it's only been stuck for two days, but it has to eventually get from the rest of the way down from 1.02 to around 1.012...

Hate to do this, but am stuck fermenation?

Thanks. I'm only concerned because my gravity reading hasn't changed since Wednesday. I originally planned to rack it off tomorrow but will give it till the middle of the week to see what it's doing. If, at that time it's still stuck, is pitching more yeast even an option or is it just a 4%...

Hate to do this, but am stuck fermenation?

When I started reading this forum, I told myself I'd never be that guy. Guess who's that guy? I've searched and read about stuck fermentation but still don't know whether I'm fine, should stroll down the gas isle for some beano or chalk this one up to experience. Last Saturday was my first...

    Sam Adams Summer Ale

Can you post the AHBS recipe. I think I might be making a sam summer ale next, but if I can get the recipe, I could probably do it cheaper than AHB. :ban:

    Manifold vs. Secondary Reg

Dual faucet? What's that? Did you mean dual reg or something else?

    Manifold vs. Secondary Reg

Does carbing beer at different pressure matter? I mean I know it does, but I see a ton of people using a primary regulator and just a manifold to split off to kegs. I used to be a bartender and we did the same thing at the place I worked at. Is there some trick to using those things or can you...

    Hello from OBX

Crazy how well known the outer banks have become! I've been going for about 25 years, a week in July each year. Usually we're in Nags Head in the southern area on Beach road after that 7-11. Each year, I can't go down there without going to Awful Arthurs in Kill Devil Hills (or is it...

    Brewing Kit Question

If you're frugal (and borderline obsessive) you can take that 4 hundo and buy quite a bit more. AHBS is awesome, but if you do some research and fine the best deals on pieces and parts you'll get more for your money. Here's a quick rundown of what I got from where if it helps. Local home...

    Plastic Carboy

Carboys that are made out of PET (the oxygen impermeable plastic) are identified with a 1 in the little recycling triangle on the bottom of the bottle.

Extra check valve needed in primary/secondary regulator set up?

Thanks for everyone's advice. I got stuck at work and am just now home. It's beer-thirty fo sho!:mug: Good tip on the cheap in-line checks. Much appreciated.

Extra check valve needed in primary/secondary regulator set up?

I am looking to buy my regulator set up for my kegs. I’d like to have a dual-guage primary regulator with a single-secondary regulator. I’m going to “T” off of the main primary line with one line going to the higher psi keg and the other line going to the secondary regulator. My question is...

    The Last Straw

:off: You're kidding me. West Liberty? I live in Bellefontaine and lived in WL as a kid. Small world. You've got to making your homebrew as you're living in one of the few dry townships in Ohio. Cheers!:cross:

    Brew Kit?

Isn't it a pain, with the myriad of equipment options and vendors, to figure out what you're buying from where? I ended up getting my stuff a week ago from morebeer out of cali. Free shipping on orders more than $59. Prices are pretty good and No I'm not a double secret morebeer agent.:cross:

    Glass vs. "Better Bottle"(plastic) Carboys???

Right. And the polys are marked with a the "recyclable" 7 at the bottom. The ones that are PET are marked with 1s. So you've used the poly or the pet water bottles with no oxy issues? I just wonder how much of it is marketing by better bottle or if the formulation is vastly different from what...

    Smells oh so sweet

We actually did go to Oaken, but the one in Bloomington was too far south. Oaken had a very good porter. Good stuff.

    Smells oh so sweet

By the way, wop31, the wife and I took our first long weekend in Indiana two weeks ago and loved it. Indianapolis has a ton of great breweries with some really good beer. Very impressed. I just wish Columbus, Oh (our town) had the beer selection Indy does. Cheers.

    Smells oh so sweet

Thanks a lot for you response and thank John Palmer for "How to Brew" for getting me started in the right direction. I've read that book like 5 times already. I guess I'll just wait and see how it turns out once it goes through the whole process. Thanks again.

    Glass vs. "Better Bottle"(plastic) Carboys???

Here's a related question. BB's are made of PET plastic, which is the plastic that's supposed to keep oxygen out. PET plastic is exclusively labeled a "1" in terms of recyclable plastic. Say we get 5 g PET bottles delivered to us for use at work at the water cooler. Could these be used as...
