hey YANKEE INGENUITY folks! (Green River BeerFest)

I would like to attend, but I need to get back on the road by 3:00 or so... Any idea what time the brewery tour would take place and what time we would hit the beer festival?

    Reusing Yeast cake question

I am going to brew an Amber Ale and was going to use the IPA yeast cake that I am going to rack that same day. Should I wash they yeast first? My concern is the high IBU from the IPA might carry over to the Amber Ale. I have read up on washing yeast, but on my first attempt I couldn't tell...

Holy Bad Customer Service Batman! Stpats of Texas

I never heard of this place, so I went to the website to check it out...I am surprised!! This is no 'mom and pop' shop...this place stands to lose a lot by bad customer service. If they think that treating homebrewer's bad will not affect their target customers buying decisions, then they are...

    Beverage factory

I ordered my two faucet tower from Beverage Factory...and they sent me a single faucet tower. They corrected the order in a timely manner and were pleasant enough...but they seem to screw up their orders a lot...not sure I'd go back.

    Noooo!!!

It's probably not as bad as I am imagining. The e-mail from the LHBS guy made it sound like he was freaking out and the total cost of grain prices was going to jump that much. Thanks for the perspective...hopefully any price change won't be that dramatic.
  6. Uncle Argyle

    Noooo!!!

I just got an e-mail from my LHBS guy...who is also in the local brew club...and said that one of his vendors were warning that grain prices were going to jump this fall. "We've been told by one of our wholesale suppliers to expect prices on malt extracts and grain to increase 30%-50% this...

    Need Kegging asnwer FAST

Be careful about turning your regulator down and then hooking up to a pressurized keg...the higher pressure might push beer back into your regulator.

    Building a new kegerator

That's the exact tray that I use...does the job for a 2 faucet tower.

    My new de-humidifer

It has a thin layer of foam insulation, maybe 3/8 to a 1/2 inch thick...almost like packing foam rather than insulation foam.

hey YANKEE INGENUITY folks! (Green River BeerFest)

Count me in...I've already penciled it in on the calendar...hopefully I won't get shot down by the SWMBO...a LOT of birthdays at the end of September. She hasn't said no yet;) A lot of breweries showing up for only the 2nd annual festival...should be cool!

    My new de-humidifer

Maybe I could run a second "return" hose back down the tower and then insulate the tower as gnef said. If that doesn't work I could look into voltage regulation as suggested by MrFebtober, this would also allow me to adjust it to the external (room) temps. Thanks again for all the ideas.

    High FG question

OK, I just double checked the thermometer and realized I that my mash temps were probably closer to 160. After doing a little reading here on HBT I realized that that could account for the heavy maltiness and low conversion...or so I am thinking. Definitely need to get a digital thermometer

    High FG question

The thermometer was the one that came with turkey fryer...never confirmed it's accuracy. Drilled a hole in the top of the cooler/MLT sunk the thermometer in. Maybe I'll invest in a digital one with a probe. Thanks for the ideas.

    My new de-humidifer

Glad I bought the stainless steel tower. This is after I added the tower cooler, guess it's working. Should I be concerned with the amount of condensation? My only concern is rust in the faucets (could be a blessing in disguise, I would have to buy forward sealing ones :) )

    High FG question

If I have a high FG 1.022 after 1 week in the primary and 2 weeks in the secondary, is it possible that i had didn't convert the starch to sugars during the mash? OG was 1.055. Mash was at 152 F for 60 mins and 2 10min batch sparges...5 gallon cooler required I split the batch sparge. Next...

    Green River Brew Fest

There is a brewfest in Greenfield MA on September 22nd. http://www.greenriverbrewfest.com It's only the 2nd year...anyone go last year? Anyone interested in going this year? It seems a little on the small side(15 local brweries last year)...but that actually may be a good thing. ~Mike

    The Danby DCR412 works great!

MrFebtober, that is a really cool picture on the inside door panel...a poster of some kind I take it? I used dry erase board so mine is plain white. I like the ability to use markers to make notes, but I also really like that picture...hmmmm...decisions...decisions.
