EBay fish tank controller build using Wal-mart parts

I mentioned about a page or so back how the Ebay seller I was dealing with sent me a 220V STC-1000 instead of the 120V. Well I finally got my replacement in the mail.... a Paint Zoom...? Sigh.

Not exactly a beginner, but I need some information

What Revvy said, but I'd like to add that the inner part of your airlock should remain pushed to the top, even after fermentation stops. It means that there is a very slight pressure remaining in the fermenter and that the CO2 is trapped inside, protecting it from nasty O2 molecules.

    Priming solutuon or carbonation drops

Carbonation drops are more expensive, and as punderdru said it won't add any additional oxygen therefore I'd recommend some corn sugar prepared as mentioned above. As an added bonus, when measuring out your own priming sugar you can control the level of carbonation to fit a style, something that...

Dry hop... when to do it?

I think the masses of random homebrewers who use that technique without any oxidation problems define a "proven method". But hey, if you want your dry hops a little more bubbly then power to you! :tank:

    What are you drinking now?

An oatmeal brown ale I recently kegged. Its really awesome, I love the smooth oatmeal body. Wishing I did a 10 gallon instead of 5.

What I did for beer today

Pulled a sample of the Apricot IPA I helped the SWMBO design, carbing up nicely.

    The BIG upgrade

IMO the CO2 keezer/kegerator set-up should be at the very top of your list, because kegs are incredibly convenient and having your own beer on tap is awesome :fro: Temperature control is super important, but I find it easy to keep my temperature in check using a $5 rubbermaid with water and...

Ale turned out to be Lager! possibly not done fermentation.

Whoops I stand corrected, I remember kits telling you to add the white pack on top, corn sugar, and then leave it in a warm area >20C for every style offered. I guess kits have improved over the years!

Never dump your beer!!! Patience IS a virtue!!! Time heals all things, even beer!

If time can't heal it, half a dozen pints or so of something else probably will :drunk:.

Ale turned out to be Lager! possibly not done fermentation.

The yeast you used was almost certainly an ale yeast, and the kit would be more accurately called a "lager-style" ale. Your OG is on the lower end, assuming they aren't dead those yeast would have no trouble fermenting that out in just a few days. Since you know the OG I'm assuming you have a...

    Lumpy Starter

I recently used 1968 and I had to scoop the yeast into the carboy with a spoon. It had the consistency of greek yoghurt, I love that strain.

EBay fish tank controller build using Wal-mart parts

I'm going to wait till I hear from the seller before I open it up because I'd have to destroy the sticker. I unwired everything and then just hooked up the power and sensor. When it kicked into cooling I measured infinite resistance directly on the cooling terminals, guess its dead or the...

EBay fish tank controller build using Wal-mart parts

The compressor delay is 3min and I waited till the light stopped flashing to test, also double checked the wiring and tested connections with a multimeter. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/390439422307?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3576wt_1397 This is the auction I bought...

EBay fish tank controller build using Wal-mart parts

I built this today, and I can't get it to work :( It powers on fine, and the temperature displays properly and is accurate, but I do not receive any output from my two outlets when heating or cooling. Should I hear a audible click when the relay engages? I don't hear anything at all. I wired it...

    Trip to NYC need suggestions.

The growler is awesome! I brought one home with me for some of my beer. Another great bar with a similar vibe and beer selection is the Rattle N Hum, I remember the pub food being really good there.

    Trip to NYC need suggestions.

The Ginger Man Pub was the highlight of my NYC trip in April, incredible selection of beer. I'd go earlier if you want a table, it gets really busy in the evenings. http://www.gingerman-ny.com/
