    San Diego Beer

Nothing is set in stone yet, but I will most likely be making a trip to San Diego in June with the wife and another couple. I'm counting on this community for good beer ideas. This is a trip with no children so we are all up for anything. I've bookmarked La Jolla, Karl Strauss, Pizza Port...

Trip to Rockwell/Dallas (area) TX. Looking for local beer to try...

http://kegsandbarrels.com/ I was there a couple of weeks ago and they had about three or four coolers worth of 22oz bottles. Looks to be about 30 mins. from Rockwall. http://mrgsbeverage.com/ This one is a little farther for you, but a great store for good beer (and a sandwich). As...

Trip to Rockwell/Dallas (area) TX. Looking for local beer to try...

I've had Peticolas and Deep Ellum beers on tap at the Holy Grail (Plano, TX). Just around the corner in Plano is the Gingerman where you can find St. Arnold's Elissa IPA on cask (most of the time), Deep Ellum's IPA, and several Rahr and Shiner beers. The Gingerman also has one or two of Real...

Another thread said to call direct for cheaper shipping with this guy as eBay shipping is sometimes exaggerated.

New Kettles in! Taller than wide! 9, 15, 20 and 25gal....

I've been looking too and I the way I read it is the $200 kettle is less thick than the $210 kettle with no couplings. Take another look at the thickness of the bottom and sides of both kettles.

If using carboy as primary how do you filter?

I sometimes insert my siphon into a large grain bag, then siphon as normal. The grain bag filters most stuff out while racking to the keg.

    Off flavor question

I'll go with Yoop's answer and also ask if you are fermenting in a closet. I was for a while and was also getting a plastic taste. It wasn't until I purchased a fridge to help with temp control that I got great beers. I was just fermenting at too high temps.

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

I tried to get 10% off but was told they wouldn't give the discount because this was part of their "Black Friday" deals. The cashier at the front register tried to enter the discount, but the computer wouldn't allow her and advised that the item was not allowed any discounts. Still a great deal!

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I brewed this on Fri. and subbed .5 lb Vienna and .5 lb Dextrose (Extract Version) with Notty yeast. I will dry hop with .5 oz Centennial and .5 oz Cascade after fermentation is complete. I hit 1.038 and it tasted great! Can't wait to keg it.
