    Fermentation not visibly active

Did you ferment in a bucket or carboy? If a bucket, sometimes the lid doesn't make a perfect seal and CO2 will escape and not cause the airlock to bubble. If in a carboy, you can usually see something, compacted yeast or krausen. Your numbers look good, so it seems to have fermented.

***SHOWCASE*** LIFETIME Wine Cap Punch down tool

Gotcha. Looks cool and I am sure it is high quality! Love my tri-clover dip tubes!

    Post your infection

Looks fine to me, but kinda hard to tell in the picture. To me it looks like krausen.

    Patersbier turned brown

I don't think that is true. No different than a carbonated bottle getting moved around. I have moved bottles and kegs around and the sediment settles back down.

***SHOWCASE*** LIFETIME Wine Cap Punch down tool

Okay, I think I understand now. I only use the kits, but now I can see where this would work. Thanks for explaining.

OG too low: All grain, partial boil

I would say your first mistake was reading the recipe as a 5 gallon batch when it was really for a 6 gallon batch when you were actually trying to make a 3 gallon batch. Original Gravity is really low, if that is an accurate reading I would dump it. I have done the 2 pot thing in the past and...

    Sediment free bottled beer

Cold crashing for a few days will do wonders as well. I have never seen a need to filter beer at a home brew level. Cold crashing will give crystal clear beer. Also some yeast strains are more flocculant than others.

    Infection, or beginner's paranoia?

Kinda looks like the start of an infection. Opening the lid all of the time does not help. Opening the lid allows oxygen in which helps feed the infection I believe.

***SHOWCASE*** LIFETIME Wine Cap Punch down tool

I make wine, and I have I bought stuff from you in the past, but what in the world is this for? LOL!!! I am sure it is great, everything you make seems awesome and works awesome, I am just lost at what it is for. FYI, I make wine from kits, not actual grapes. Is it for smashing grapes?

    Sediment free bottled beer

I get really clear beer by carbonating in a keg and then using a beer gun to bottle when I need to. Granted, not everyone has the space for a dedicated beer fridge; but it really makes for some clear beer. Also nice to have beer on tap.

    Too Soon For Pumpkin Ales?

Schlafly in St. Louis makes an awesome pumpkin beer. You can buy canned pumpkin and add that, but usually you add the pumpkin to that mash. I am not sure about adding pumpkin for an extract recipe. Steep it maybe? I think no the key is the spice you use.

    Too Soon For Pumpkin Ales?

Do you want pumpkin flavor or pumpkin spice flavor? Pumpkin tastes horrible. You can make great pumpkin spiced beers without using any pumpkin. My wife says she loves pumpkin everything, but in reality she likes things with pumpkin spice.

Imperial Stout Russian Imperial Stout (2011 HBT Competition Category Winner)

I am hoping to buy a barrel from there sometime. We did the Groupon tour with some friends and had a lot of fun. Neat place.

    Is This A Stuck Fermentation?

Those orange caps don't always make a perfectly tight seal, CO2 might be escaping from there.

    Hot tap water for mashing?

    Well played. :mug:

Changing 15amp to 20amp outlet in garage

I missed that in the pictures, but good point. Going back I see it now. Hard to tell size in the picture, I guess it could be either size. Up close though, it should be easy to tell the difference. I think OP should look at wirein the hardware store and I bet he could tell the differenece...

Changing 15amp to 20amp outlet in garage

If it's 14AWG it's not up to code and you should fix it. If you need a reference, go to Lowes or HD and look at #12 and #14. Pretty easy to tell the difference once you know what you are looking at.

Changing 15amp to 20amp outlet in garage

Pretty sure it's 14 awg. I don't think you can back stab outlets with 12 awg.

My Experience with the Mark II Wort Pump

The Mark II pump has worked well for me. Quiet, and doesn't get hot to the the tough. I only had clogging issues when I used mint leaves at flame out. Even with a whirlpool they clogged the inlet of the pump big time and multiple times. Still, it's a great pump in my opinion. I also use a...
