All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

I also like this idea. Sounds like I'm going to need to take some time to figure out exactly what I'm doing before I start.

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

Interesting idea. I will have to read this more closely. If I had a 3rd pot... could I do grains in 2 of them and then dunk both of those in the 3rd pot, to make more wort? Small batches are a lot of work for not much beer, and I have lots of friends who like beer. I can borrow my mother's pot.

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

My pots are 12L each. Maybe you meant 3 Gallons? So I was hoping to do 20L+ in fermentor. But wondering if that's possible.

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

Thanks. Looks like I can get a bag pretty cheap, but I'll have to wait until I have time to go pick one up.

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

First time trying all grain beer recipe. I've mostly done festabrew and made one coopers extract kit. I don't have equipment for all grain, but wanted to try anyway. I have 2 12L stock pots and a propane stove. I'm planning to split the ingredients between the pots and do both at the same time...

Wanted to share what I'm making

Thanks for the information. I have flip top bottles, so I'm not too worried about explosions, but it would be good to be able to stop it from over-carbonating. I'll take a look at the cider forum.

Wanted to share what I'm making

I do have a hydrometer. I didn't take a measurement before I put in yeast, because I'm lazy and don't care about knowing the abv, but I can check to see whether it's stopped fermenting if I need to. I also have nutrient, but if I use it, then maybe the yeast will eat all the sugar and I'd like...

Wanted to share what I'm making

I've only been making wine/beer at home for less than a year, so keep that in mind if I make mistakes. I tried 1 gallon of mead a few months ago, to see what it was like. I put about 4 cups of honey in, so it was very sweet, then after the fermentation calmed down and it cleared a bit, I added...

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense and was the information I was looking for.

adding fruit to festabrew red ale

I have been enjoying making the festabrew kits. I want to add a fruit puree next time. I'd prefer raspberry, but if I can't get it, then probably cherry. I'm looking at 3lb cans of vintner's harvest puree, but could also try juice or frozen fruit, depending on what I can get. I also have...

    Gelatin and bottling

I will try this next time and see which way I like better. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Gelatin and bottling

Thank you for your reply. I did do hoppy ipa, but it was a festabrew kit, so it was super easy. I don't have the equipment to make 5 gallons of wort and have 2 small children right now. Main reason I'm making beer is cost. Beer costs me $15 at the store. Same amount is $4 if I make it myself...

    Gelatin and bottling

It's my first time making beer. I read that for adding gelatin to clarify beer quickly, the beer needs to be chilled first. I've put it into the fridge in a carboy, but then I read something that said if you make the beer cold it will kill the yeast and then won't carbonate in the bottles. I...

    First time-festabrew questions

Thanks for the link. It was nteresting. So, basically, my beer will be fine. :) The airlock smells wonderful right now.

    First time-festabrew questions

Hi, this is my first time making beer. I have made wine 4 times. I got west coast ipa kit. This is day 2 in primary and it's doing fine. I added 1oz of cryo cascade hops, because I want grapefruit flavor. I heard that the cryo hops are stronger than regular hops. If I leave this in for 2 weeks...

    Hard lemonade / Skeeter 4 Summer 2019

Bottled lemon-berry-jalapeno today. Added 75 ml of wine conditioner. Forgot to take sg before adding 50ml of conditioner. After the 50ml of sweetener it was 0.99, which would put it at 11%, but it's probably a little bit stronger. Broke the tops off two (used) bottles using the capper today...

I'm having this problem with my blueberry. Any ideas of what is good to dilute blueberry wine with?
