So I started homebrewing about 5 months ago and just kept buying more stuff with each new batch. Eventually there was literally nowhere for it all to go. So I convinced the wife that we should turn the basement into a brewery! I'm not sure if I can actually get ventilation to be able to truly...

    New to the brew Cincy!

How is the Malt Infusers group? I was thinking about joining some type of club. I'm up near Mason and I am digging Osborn in Monroe as my LHBS.

A Brewer's Guide to Opening a Nano Brewery

There are some awesome breweries down here for sure. Worth a visit I would say!

A Brewer's Guide to Opening a Nano Brewery

Madtree is sick man. I've got about 5-10 beers left of the Thundersnow in my kegerator right now. They've got some great beers. Rhinegeist is stepping up their game lately and Moerlein too.

A Brewer's Guide to Opening a Nano Brewery

Haha it's all good man. I've lived here about 2.5 yrs now and haven't been to Kings Island even though it's about 5 mins away. I'm curious how the brewery is over in PA. You'll have to let me know. I emailed him a couple times and he's always replied back quickly. Cool dude but you can tell he...

A Brewer's Guide to Opening a Nano Brewery

In all fairness, the hop "book" is only about 10 pages of book reading, followed by one page dedicated to each hop, then some brief descriptions, what they are used in, etc. That's pretty sweet it's that close. Where are you at in Ohio? I'm down by Kings Island in Cinci

A Brewer's Guide to Opening a Nano Brewery

I read it. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, but there were a lot of people that cut it down. I wrapped up my MBA in October, and the capstone class was to create a business, then write the business plan. I naturally chose opening a brewery, and that book was invaluable to writing my paper...

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

So just wanted to follow up here - I brewed this one twice. The first one was my first ever all grain, and I thought I realized what I did wrong, then after taking my gravity readings of my 2nd batch, I realized I still hadn't perfected my mash tun yet. Anyway, I gave away about a case of the...

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

Pretty sure that's how mine will be haha. And the wort tasted so good I'm sure I'm going to have a really hard time waiting. Would love to bring some with me back to Orange County for Christmas though. Second batch it is...

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

Will do. How long do you try to keep it in bottles before you taste? I would think the longer this one sits the better it tastes.

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

I brewed this one today. My first all grain and my efficiency was terrible. I figured out what I was doing wrong in my sparge process but that doesn't get my beer up higher than a 1.046 OG. Ugh. Outside of that though I followed the recipe as close as I could. LHBS didn't have London ESB yeast...

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

This I think has become a moot point for me as the next beer after this one that I want to brew also uses London ESB. So I'll probably just stick with that yeast and try to re-use for the next batch too. Appreciate the help and the research though everyone. Thanks!

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

Love just about every one I've tried...I think I'm just going to go for it

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

I'm not so much looking for funky but definitely sweeter. That's what I'm targeting

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

Thanks man. I think the London yeast may be adding a more bitter taste than the sweetness of a Belgian yeast. Does that sound about right to you? Or you're not sure since you haven't used Belgian yeast?

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

Do you think it's too much to keep the spices in tact and just switch to Belgian yeast? What are you doing differently otherwise?

    Winter Seasonal Beer Christmas Ale

Newbie here...looking to brew this up for Christmas. I was looking for something with a Belgian yeast though. Do you think that would be too much for this beer?
