    Check my Cider recipe please....

That's quite a bit of chocolate. It may overpower the apple flavor.

Advice on having brewpub fill my corny!

I asked my local Brewpub, Olde Main, to fill up my corny. The Brewmaster said he used to have a tri-clamp to pin lock fitting to fill cornies but he no longer has that so he cant fill cornies. Any other suggestions on how to fill this?

    My Wort chiller is inneficient!

Make sure you stir your wort while using the chiller. A thermal boundary layer occurs around the chiller; cold wort surrounds the coils while the rest of the wort remains hot. There needs to be a temperature differential close to the coils for effective heat transfer. You may also need a...

    MGD 64 All Grain Recipe

This thread started as a joke but is now evolving into a pseudo serious discussion. As far as making a light beer. Could one not make a high gravity wort and dilute until the desired OG is reached. Dry hopping could be done to compensate for hop dilution. Just a thought.

AG, too high OG, dilute when bottle?

So I decided to make a simple AG batch this weekend. I got ballsy and decided I would decide my grain bill without doing any calcs. Here's my overzealous recipe 10# 2-row 2.5# flaked corn 1.75 oz centennial (60 min) 0.25oz centennial (10 min) My OG turned out to be 1.060. Which means...

How the heck are ya from Iowa

I've had great luck with Beer Crazy in Urbandale. I live in Ames and went there because I was in Des Moines. The clerk was very friendly and I was even offered some homebrew. The clerk even picked out the ingredients for my brew after I decided upon a recipe (they have recipe books there)...

    Corona Mill on sale (ebay)

Corona mills are the lowest on the totem pole when it comes to milling quality. If you can find a HB shop that has a mill near you that may be a good alternative. This sounds a little too cheap to be of any quality.

    what to prime with?

Corn sugar will be the quickest. DME will take longer but some say smaller CO2 bubbles are produced compared to Corn sugar. You can also use brown sugar, honey, molasses, sugar in the raw, or even regular sucrose if you're in a pinch. Keep in mind all of these will give a slightly different...

What do you do with your spent grains?

Spent grains make great fertilizer for your garden! All of the sugars have been removed so mainly you have protein left (with fiber of course). Protein is an excellent source of nitrogen and thus a great organic fertilizer!
