I just found a 4500w extra-low density camco element at the local hardware for $23.00. It is the Lime-Life version at 50w per sq. in, would this be ok for a RIMS tube? Will it scorch? thanks for the help!

I see that most people have stainless elements. What are the pros and cons of both? I didn't even know they had copper elements until I started looking at Rheem elements.

I have done this before with good success. You can activate "proof" it if you want, it will reduce your alcohol content marginally on a 2 gallon batch. I did have to let the batch I did this with mature a little longer to let the yeast flavor settle down though...

I think I am going to try the AC motor controller. I will be recirculating my chilling water, using a picnic cooler as my water closet. I'll try the valve if that doesn't work. Just not to keen on sticking my hand into ice cube water to tweek my flow... lol

What would be the best way to cut back the output of my sump for my recirculate chiller? I thought of a dimmer switch but that would probably fry the motor... Any thoughts?
