    Copper vs Stainless Elements

so... I broke down and purchased the 4500w ULWD element. It's not a ripple, but i think it will suffice for my charges. I do have pics and will update asap. This site ROCKS!

    Copper vs Stainless Elements

I just found a 4500w extra-low density camco element at the local hardware for $23.00. It is the Lime-Life version at 50w per sq. in, would this be ok for a RIMS tube? Will it scorch? thanks for the help!

    Copper vs Stainless Elements

Walker: I was under the impression that the incology was a coating... def correct me if I am wrong. jkarp/Walker: I am going to go with two elements: one for my RIMS tube and one for my kettle. I see some rheem elements that are LWD for the 3-3500k on...

    Copper vs Stainless Elements

I see that most people have stainless elements. What are the pros and cons of both? I didn't even know they had copper elements until I started looking at Rheem elements.

    Add yeast during bottling

I have done this before with good success. You can activate "proof" it if you want, it will reduce your alcohol content marginally on a 2 gallon batch. I did have to let the batch I did this with mature a little longer to let the yeast flavor settle down though...

Suggestions and Help with my system and panel

How's it going HBT !?! I am in the process of converting my propane setup to electric and I have some ideas, but I am not sure if they are practical. What I would like to do is step mash with with the (slightly modified)tube from the "Rims for dummies" thread in a 10g water cooler. I plan on...

    Spa Panel Wiring for Dummies

Thanks P-J. Me thinks I was looking at the wrong setup; possibly the 4 wire into the panel? Should the ground running to the power out put be insulated if I put a receptacle in the box? Would you suggest a twist lock or would just a standard 4 prong suffice? I have access to electrical suppliers...

    Spa Panel Wiring for Dummies

Happy Sunday before Labor Day folks. I am in the process of setting up an electric brewery (just in my basement, nothing HUGE) and am getting all of the pieces and parts pulled together. I only have a three prong dryer outlet so I am going with the spa panel route for the GFI protection. I...

    Powering down the sump pump

I am going to do a "wet" run today with the splitter. If this doesn't work I will have to consider the smaller pump. The Wife gave me the ok for the controller... but after giving it some thought I would like to keep it simple if I can.

    Powering down the sump pump

I purchased a 1 hp sump from Harbor Freight. When I got it home and ran a bench test it is a little much for what I am doing. I have already reduced the out put to a 1/2" (which the instructions said NOT TO DO). I ran it for a 1/2 hour and to over heating or anything. The output flow pressure is...

    Powering down the sump pump

I think I am going to try the AC motor controller. I will be recirculating my chilling water, using a picnic cooler as my water closet. I'll try the valve if that doesn't work. Just not to keen on sticking my hand into ice cube water to tweek my flow... lol

    Powering down the sump pump

What would be the best way to cut back the output of my sump for my recirculate chiller? I thought of a dimmer switch but that would probably fry the motor... Any thoughts?
