No, its an all-grain clone from an amazing brewery up here in Alaska. Glacier Brew House, Imperial Blonde. Its a great beer, dangerously drinkable at 9%abv. Got the recipe from BYO magazine.

I just bottled my imperial blonde on Monday...... Wait till you brew a bigger beer and have to wait a month or more for it to condition, ITS TORTURE!!! Of course I will drink one next week and the week after. It really is nice to see how a beer develops over time.

What are you using as a heat source? If its a brewbelt type deal I could see it taking a while to overcome the cold, try using a small personal heater or something that would warm the air more quickly.

I was thinking of buying a cheap meat thermometer (the long ones that come with turkey fryers) Taking the readout off and cramming the probe down inside with some thermal paste. Or buying a 1/4" piece of stainless steel and crimping it shut. OR I was even thinking of just using some plastic...

Anyone using that style probe put it straight into the wort? In the process of making a thermowell and was just curious. :mug:

I just got done building my ferm chamber. I was in the same situation, it being cold as balls here in Alaska. Got a dead mini fridge (someone killed it making a kegerator... drilled the coolant line) off of craigslist for free. Bought a 5' piece of 4" wide reptile heating flexwatt and wired it...

Do anything special like putting thermopaste inside the well? I was thinking about buying a cheap meat thermometer and taking it apart..... super cheap thermowell.

I use the big plastic fermenting vessel that came with my coopers kit a while ago. Has a huge mouth when the top is off(easy to clean) also has a spigot for easy racking and whatnot.

Yea I emailed reptile basics shortly after my post and asked about shipping. Got it in a flat rate usps box the next day and now my flexwatt tape is on it way. Awesome customer service with those guys. Anyways, I plan on having a fan running in my dead mini fridge and maybe put some frozen...

Ok soooo I really liked that reptile basics site, they will wire up your heat tape and everything, very cheap..... 5ft of 4" heat tape wired up for aorund $14, not bad. WTF shipping here to alaska is 28 bucks... looks like this is not an option. What ever happened to flat rate boxes.

Some really cheap stuff on that site, thanks helibrewer. So for the flexwat heater all I would need is the flexwatt itself, clips with insulators and a cord right?

Got it all wired up and working. Used my second way of thinking to wire it up, after my original post I thought about it...and it just didnt make sense. Used the male end to power the STC, female end as the outlet to the brewbelt. ....now I just need my damn brewbelt. :cross:

So which way of thinking is correct? The original or my edit? Or any?
