i am testing while boiling in a 15g pot with 6g in it, when i say goes to the bottom i mean it goes to the top of the scale. the crush is done by the LHBS. but how would you adjust if its already boiling? extra grain and bag it? yup enough wort. i think i am getting a little up about...

    My Pale ale Question

i brewed a pale ale on the 10th. beersmith, a recipe that was uploaded, and it said dry hop 3 days. just like that. now how i took this was, primary then in three days secondary for dry hoping. so now that its in the second for 4 days, im wondering if it needs to get bottled now. i dont think it...

Well, so much for a good first run!

so it is safe to say my hydrometer is broke. it gives the same reading for everything. so i bought a refractometer, after fermentation i have 4.5 brix. so that either means i have 2,8% abv or 6.3% if i use the reading from my hydrometer.

    Testing a recipe

oh, my idea was to get a base taste sort of, not the whole thing. just to get an idea of what it would come out like. now thinking, that the yeast dries the flavor out some what so it would change.

    Hydrometer help

Ok, my first beer had a low fg but it deffenently had at least 4.5% abv, taste test of 2 22.oz bottles, wink, now my pale ale is at 1.010 after 4 days. I really think it's not correct, I ordered a refractometer so at least my pre and post boils will be on. Can someone tell me if there is a...

Well, so much for a good first run!

Well i am proud to anaunce that my closet smells AWESOME! but i am still worried about the amount of efficiency i am getting. i am going to invest in a refractometer, not the real pricey one, just one to do on the fly before pitching yeast then the hydrometer after.
