    New Homebrewing Blog

New Post: Beating the Summer Heat http://beverly.wickedlocal.com/article/20140703/BLOGS/307039987/-1/blogs01 The blog is on a newspaper website, and in my first post I admitted I'm no expert. I still encourage everyone to check it out. If you have any thoughts or anything you would like to...

    New Homebrewing Blog

I started a blog on my local newspaper's website called "The Would-be Brewmaster." I don't consider myself an expert by any means, which is part of the charm I guess. I have four posts up already www.WouldBeBrewmaster.com You can also like the blog on Facebook...

    Conan Yeast Experiences

Bottled today and the samples were amazing. Not having temp control it fermented at the high end of the range, definitely got the peach. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Conan Yeast Experiences

I ordered a vial from The Yeast Bay. I pitched it a batch of NB's American Wheat kit. It took off right away and is still in the primary. That'll give me enough slurry for an AG batch of our Ruthian Summer Ale (think Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin meets Sam Summer), and an American Stout...

How did YOUR first brew go ?

Brown ale from LHBS. All it was was medium crystal, dark LME, Cascade, and one pkg of Munton's ale yeast. The started kit came with The Complete Joy of Homebrewing which inspired us to use molasses for priming. The beer came out excellent. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

I need your support - brewing one beer a day for a year!

If you're going to do 365 different beers you would want to hit all of the different BJCP styles. I know some brewers have a couple flagship beers they do, but I know I enjoy experimenting with and learning about different styles. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Primary in 5 gallon glass carboy

If its a 5 gallon batch if wait because the carboy won't have enough head room. You would need a 6.5 gallon carboy to use as a primary for a 5 gallon batch.

    Re-pitch under pitched lager yeast?

I'd add some yeast energizer and aerate the wort again.

I can't get my Lager below 45 degrees.

You can also lager in bottles if you have fridge space. Be sure to slowly decrease the temp to lagering temperature. You don't want the yeast to crash rig away before carbing the beer. Once you get to approx 35F, lager for another couple of weeks. The only downside to this method is that the...

    Which yeast to use

If you want to stick with dry yeast, WB-06 works well with a hefe.

    Post your "Untappd" user name!

We claimed our brewery. It took a week or two but Untappd got back to us and gave us access to the back end to manager our beers and brewery. We were able to upload labels for each brew as well as descriptions.

    Custom pint glasses?

It depends on the quantity. I ordered five, IIRC it was approx $15 each.
