    Propane and Solenoids

The standing pilot is definitely not meant to be used unattended and a thermocouple is no doubt the better way to go.

    Propane and Solenoids

I use one with a standing pilot with natural gas and a Ranco controller, It works great.

    Need a sparge arm recommendation.

You don't need a sparge arm. As long as you don't dump the water in so hard it disturbs the whole grain bed your fine.

    Strike water question

What I do with Beersmith is, Go to tools>>> infusion, From drop down box select initial strike and put in my info... With a direct fired MLT, where all your strike water is preheated and your adding the grist to it,......MAKE SURE MASH TUN WEIGHT IS SET TO 0.00 (ZERO). Then you'll be right on...

Scale up recipes and Fly Sparge?

You want to have your final volume in your Boil kettle at the end of your sparge.(plus your boil off). With bigger batches I would sparge for at least an hour.

Deadspace vs Slack in Mash Tun

I use a RIMS also. I like my mash thickness at 1.33 Qts. per Lb., so I fill the MLT just to the false bottom then add my measured water. (I have 2 gallons under bottom) For a typical 10 gallon batch with 16 Lbs of grain, after adding in water under bottom, the ratio ends up being around 1.67...

    Mash tun recirc question

I can't say I agree with this. I don't know what else is going to be extracted by recirculating or how it will be detrimental to your brew. I recirculate the whole time with a direct fired MLT to help keep a consistent temp and keep enzymes evenly dispersed throughout the mash. I will...

    Mash tun recirc question

I would (and did) automate the MLT not the HLT, and run my pump to recirculate the whole time.

    Keg conditioning

Unless it's a Big beer or a Lager, I usually go 4 weeks in primary then into kegs to carbonate and drink.

That looks like a nice loop and seems pretty fast to me, especially with your elevation. I live at sea level with some hills but A LOT of wind especially by the bay. You hit 40 mph? that had to suck getting up that hill..

Keg Leaking, is it ok to try to recarbonate?

As long as there was a layer of C02 over the beer it's probably good. Taste it. If it tastes good rack it to another keg and force carb it. You could carb it in the same keg, you'll just have alot of yeast from the priming sugar.
