    'nother noob from WA state

Welcome ronjer...just saw the other thread so it looks like we Washingtonians are well represented. I like to go down to Homebrew Heaven every once in awhile, a cool shop. I have yet to find Diamond Knot IPA on tap up here in Whatcom County, which has to be your county's best product. Man that...

    'nother noob from WA state

Welcome from Bellingham Maukiman. I'm a 'noob to the site, but have been brewing for about 15 years. It's a fun hobby, a little frustrating at times, but the end results are worth it.

    Basic cider recipe?

I've made cider the past couple of years which both turned out great. Using 5 gallons of cider (I have found a blend of apples tastes better than one single type.) I add some cinnamon sticks, small amount of nutmeg, some fresh lemon juice and zest, 24 ounces of honey, some grated ginger and...

    Hoppy brew???

Homebrew Heaven (they have a web site) has a great extract recipe that tries to replicate a fantastic IPA called Diamond Knot. Never tried it extract but I followed the hop schedule on an all grain. I'm curious, what are the Homebrew shops like in Utah? I know the beer you buy is limited to...

    yeast from secondary

I've taken yeast from the secondary, stored it for a week or so in the refrigerator, and made a yeast starter to use in a similar beer without any problem. It hasn't disappointed me yet.

    Singing the praises of Oxy-Clean

When I used to bottle I would fill a tub with water and add a cup of ammonia. It took the labels right off. Then I would clean the bottles as usual. Cheap and effective.

What was your very first All Grain Beer

I did a Diamond Knot IPA clone from a local brewery with great beer. It went easier than I thought; I had read up on all grain so much I thought it would be more complicated than it actually was. Turned out pretty good thanks to an instruction sheet I wrote up before hand outlining the steps...

    Hi

I have recently returned to homebrewing after a bit of a layoff, mostly due to a remodelling project that buried my equipment and then just general apathy. I recently got back into it after going into a homebrew shop and getting the bug back. Something about smelling all the grain got me stoked...
