    Do you really want to risk $40 of ingredients to save $15 on a bucket? nope. thanks for the tip. just for future reference is there any way to tell if plastic is food grade? do they include some sort of marking on the bottom?

    can i use a 6 gallon bucket from the hardware store as a fermenting bucket? looks exactly the same as the one I paid about 15 bucks more for at the brew shop.

    i did go to beer and wine makers warehouse. seemed expensive. sold me a dented can that was dropped, made it very hard to open. selection wasn't incredible. i'm shopping online now

    i was originally just going to use 12 oz beer bottles but I can get wine bottles for free--plus corking supplies and thought that might look a bit nicer. thanks for the input

    is it important to use dark wine bottles like I do with the beer? are tapered corks ok or should I go for the regular ones and spring for a corker. I know it's not expensive but I'm still reeling from my initial set up purchase (I just started doing this)

    if i bring home used wine bottles from work is there someting I can buy to seal them up properly for bottle conditioning? Probably thinking to use them for mead not beer if it makes a difference.
