    Fuse on hot bus

thanks all...and the last question I asked...my inline fuse holder is 14 awg, but the wires I am intending to protect are 18. Can I use a larger gauge wire on my holder with a fuse that is more appropriate for the lower gauge wires down the line? can I put a 1amp fuse in this holder, and then...

    Fuse on hot bus

was that a fuse per hot wire, or one fuse on a terminal bus?

    Fuse on hot bus

I have a hot bus that I want to connect from my contactor, but I'm having a little con-FUSE-ion (sorry...I'll stop) All the wires on the bus are 18 awg (switch for actuating another contactor and PID) - I have the understanding I should add a fuse between the contractor and the bus. However I...

    ground wire for heating element

No rust issues? I was told only the Camco 2955 can be a rust free- Looking at the shine on your image I’m guessing that’s no longer the case

    ground wire for heating element

Everything you have all said is what I thought...so will ground for sure. Tri-clamp is hard to find here. The box I was planning to use is a metal enclosure with ground screw against an SS kettle. While not as convenient as trim-clamp, I presume this will suffice?

    ground wire for heating element

I watched some videos today as I prepare to drill a hole into my kettle. I stumbled on this one about wiring/covering the heating element. I do like the clean round piece that fits over the wiring, but the creator states that the ground wire he "just cut it off" since there was no place to...

    Switch compatibility?

re: neutral back to switch...from the bus, or can I return it back from the coil to which its plugged in (see image)?...or does it matter where neutral come from?

    Switch compatibility?

"Switch the neutral" - sorry,I didn't quite follow...is that saying if I want the light on only when actuated? Or if I simply wanted an alternative way to wire the KCD4?

    Switch compatibility?

thanks @doug293cz I'm intending to use the switch as a main...In respect to wiring this up, it's a 4 prong expected to illuminate when closed. I'm not 100% clear on how this goes - I watched a video about this but still have some confusion. Assuming the mains are those 10AWG from the left, and...

diacetyl rest - such thing as too long?

Thanks all- I’ll relax and report back

diacetyl rest - such thing as too long?

Hi - I've been working at my first lager...I pitched at 10.5C (51F) and chambered at that temp for 8 days. Then I pulled out the vessel and raised the temp for a D-rest around 19C(66F), intending just a couple days. Life got in the way, and it's been a week at D-rest temp. (14 days total since...

    Switch compatibility?

I bought these on Amazon with the intention to use them to activate a 120 contactor. I’ve been told they are for dc only but the side has ac ratings. Am I ok to use these for actuating the contractors?

    Need some feedback on wiring

can I ask a quick question on the fuse implementation. I understand that if we ever step down (10awg ->16 awg) we need a fuse. How do we know 1amp vs 10amp?

    grounding two (or more) receptacles

Quick one , I hope - Today I have 2 receptacles (120 and 220) in my enclosure. I can imagine more in the future. The enclosure is plastic. Is it safe to mount a ground bar to share that ground wire? And if so, what's the best practice to doing so on a plastic enclosure? Is there an alternative...

Sealing a plain ol' 5 gal bucket

Hi....got some food grade 5 gallon buckets with lids here. I realize people use these all the time for fermenting - I'm hoping to get the grommets installed today, but need to know how/if I need more to seal the lids? I'm hard pressed to believe these are airtight as is and I've seen some...

    Getting my first lager right....

ok..thursday is the day...first go at a lager - I've got my WLP830 charging up a starter as I type. While I quite clear about the actual brewing process, its from the pitch onward I have a few questions needing clarification. It's my understanding that I want to pitch around 10-11 ºC (50-53...

2955 - is this the only ALL SS heating element?

Hi - I've been researching heating elements for an electric setup. It seems the general consensus is the Camco 2955 is the element de jour because it's the only ALL stainless steel that won't rust. Are there alternatives? I'm in canada and these are expensive up here compared to other models...

    Need some feedback on wiring

Oh thank you...so by that schematic, it appears there is a main switch, and then switches to each unit (pump and element). And in the case of the element, we require another contactor because of the heavy load , where as the 120 can pass directly thru that SW11 switch.
