Getting Ready To Bottle First Fruit Beer

just rack from under...if you can, sanitize a nylon or grain bag and place it over the end of the siphon. I always end up with a little "junk" in my keg when I rack my strawberry wheats, but then again, I don't filter, just shove the siphon right in.

Coconut Caramel Cream Stout: A recipe for Cheesefood?

that's what the bump is for....to keep the thread going...not to get rid of it. sheesh.

    Samoa Stout

    Beer turned black after gelatin?

There is such a simple solution to this problem. OP...would you please draw a sample and put it in a hydrometer test tube and take another pic. Otherwise, quit this nonsense.

Do you really need a control panel for e-kettle?

so I am contemplating making the leap into electric brewing since I intend to move to MN here in a few months, and with electric, my brewing season doesn't need to be limited by the typical Minnesota winter weather. With that said, I am very confused. Everyone says to use a GFCI breaker when...

    Really Confused! Please Help!

I won't be using a pump...I use a gravity fed CFC. Unfortunately, I am still confused. The control box does not have a separate outlet for a pump...just one that is tied into the control dial. On the website, it specifically states that in order to hook up the controller to a CFCI circuit, it...

Do you really need a control panel for e-kettle?

so a single low density 3000W 240V heater element for a range between 5-10 gallon batches should be fine. I'm not super electrical savvy, and I am confused why there isn't just some kind of dial that I can hook up to the element (like how a stovetop works) without it looking like a bunch of...

Do you really need a control panel for e-kettle?

So, yeah, if I really don't feel like spending the money, is there anything wrong with just letting a 240 5500W element just go full blast without a control panel for my 5.25 and 10.5 gallon batches? http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/heating-element-kits

    not bottle carborizing

...and because you used the word twice, let me correct you since it clearly wasn't a typo...but you are wondering why the bottled are not carbonating...not "carborized".

    not bottle carborizing

let it sit for two more weeks

    Beer turned black after gelatin?

so...enough already, take a pick in a hydrometer tube or something other than a secondary. I agree with Yoop though...looks "darker" but clearer as a result of the particles falling out of solution.

Caught my wife browsing homebrew talk using my account

ehh...she was probably just checking your sub's threads....busted. shouldn't have responded to the SWMBO pic thread or the miniskirts thread. LOLOLOLOL

    kegs leak from lid

yes....that is totally normal...assuming you did not pressurize the keg first. the keg will get a complete seal when you hit it with C02....if not, water will escape. trust me.

Is your brew day like a work day?

My brew day is generally relaxed and lasts 4-6 hours depending on how helpful my drunk neighbors and brewing partners are on that particular day. I usually sit in my chair...plug in the speakers/sub to my laptop...and brew away. Generally my brew day is coupled with generous to overly generous...

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

Thanks Yoop...brewed this on Feb 22nd, but sub'd 4 oz of Summit, 2 of which were flameout. Estimated 43 IBU. Also, didn't dry hop. With all other ingredients the same, I ended up with 1.063 OG and 1.012 FG....kinda hot for a APA, but I'm not complaining. Been kegged since 22 March....and it...

    Apricot

Northern Brewer carries the pro series kits....one of which is Dry Dock's Apricot beer....for the life of me can't remember the name of it. Either way, I just had it the other day on tap in Aurora....very very good.
