    Albany NY area clubs

The Albany Brew Crafters are going strong now. They outgrew their old space at the City Beer Hall and moved to The Ruck in Troy. They are pulling in 30-35 attendees each meeting now! It's been a great club. I'm a fan.

Southern Tier's Creme Brulee Imperial Milk Stout Clone

I'm ok with not having an EXACT clone. I just want a beer that is SIMILAR in profile that tastes good.

Southern Tier's Creme Brulee Imperial Milk Stout Clone

Maybe because it is delicious? Especially over ice cream? It's a dessert beer and needs to be appreciated as such. I am going to brew this beer using the recipe in the OP with some notes and pictures along the way. We'll put it to the test and see how it turns out!

Lloyd - I will only patronize your shop if you promise to have your guys send some beers up to the 17th Annual Knickerbocker Battle of the Brews in Albany, NY in November! I'll be down in Warwick this weekend. http://www.thoroughbrews.org/kbotb/index.html

I was grocery shopping and bowled over when I saw my local Price Chopper carrying Dogfish 90 Minute for $10 a 4-pack. Sold! Drinking one as we speak.

    Coleman cooler question

Yeah. I actually have one in stainless. Thing is amazing and keeps ice for 4 or 5 days in July, even with constant opening and closing. Anyway, I think you will be happy with your choice and I'll bet you are dropping less than $30 on it so it's a great investment. Oh - one last piece of...

    Coleman cooler question

Double R has the right idea. Just remember that bigger may not be better when it comes to your mash tun. What size batches are you brewing? If you are only doing 5 gallon batches, anything much over 34 to 48 qt [which can accommodate the grain bill for high gravity beers] can actually be...

2011 Knickerbocker Battle of the Brews

Well, there was a really good turn out this year. Did you win anything?

    What are you drinking now?

Just enjoyed a glass of Smuttynose Gravitation off tap. I'm usually not a fan of Smuttynose in general and see this beer isn't getting great reviews on BA but man - this was a good beer! Lots of raisins, molasses, and maybe a touch of honey with barely a note of the 12% ABV. It's a very good...

2011 AHA NHC - whatcha got?

You know, we had a bag of those on the table and I only used them on the beers I mangled the caps on? :drunk: I'm guessing you probably are if you came out of Saratoga so congrats! You won't have any tasting notes from me, unfortunately, but I was a judge for the best in flight on those and...

2011 AHA NHC - whatcha got?

My understanding is that everything was turned in already. I believe they should have the site updated really soon. As far as your comment about judges goes, it would have been nice to have more help but pulling cards seems a tad extreme! :p Update: I was about to post the event link showing...

2011 AHA NHC - whatcha got?

http://www.bjcp.org/docs/MiniBOS.pdf While I agree that you want the beers served at close to the same temperature, I don't know that recapping a 1/2 full bottle [at best] does much of anything to preserve the carbonation. Just for clarity, I place the cap back on the beer by hand [mostly to...
