    I have a problem

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say she's pissed about all the money you're spending on brewing. No problem, I've figured out a method so that SWMBO is none the wiser to money I've spent. eBay has a nice little feature called "bill me later", Which is an interest free purchase as long as you...

Help with 1 gal IPA recipes

No offense, but I'd go get 5 gallon equipment. 1 gallon batches are just too small in my opinion.

You know you're a home brewer when?

When your wire says you spend more time brewing than with her.

How long will be last in secondary?

Pretty long I'd say, keep it sealed and you'll be fine. They say homebrew can be stored up to a year before it starts to go bad.

    Brewing thursday....need a good recipe.

Just looking for a lighter, mild hops recipe right now. Brewed some darker beers on my last two batches, so I'm looking to go away from those. Would like something that's "session able". You know....something you can drink a lot of in one sitting and get drunk on. A clone might be nice.

    Brewing thursday....need a good recipe.

So I've hit a wall; can't think of a recipe for my brew day Thursday. Plan on doing an extract, and looking for a lighter beer with a higher gravity. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I make extract kits with a 3.5 gallon pot. Just follow what the thread says and you'll be fine.

    Using lactose at bottling?

Just remember....put most of the LME extract in at FO. Otherwise you'll get the carmelizing. But I'm sure you already know this. I really like NBs dark LME. If used right, it makes some good dark beers.

Summer Ale to IPA Extract Help

Get rid of the safeale 05 and go get some wyeast 1056....much better fermentation and taste. 05 leaves some fruity esters just like the coopers dry yeast....even when fermented in the low 70s.

    Using lactose at bottling?

Try the NB chocolate milk stout extract kit. Pretty good beer. I have a batch of it kegged right now and it's the bomb. Has a little sweet finish with the pound of lactose you put in.

    Using lactose at bottling?

Lactose is unfermentable. Make her something light with a pound or two of honey in it. That's what I did and she drank a lot of it.

    What is this? Infection?

Definitely had krausens like that....one of my best batches looked like that.

Brewing Irish Stout Tonight - Input please!!!

I always add my LME at flame-out. Seems to get rid of the tang and make some damn good beer. Just made the NB milk stout which is amazing. Added most the LME at FO.

    First DIPA!

I'd maybe steep in 2 pounds of 2 row or 6 row. Other than that it looks good.

Extract brewing recipe - can this be right?

I'd go with either 1kg(2.2lb), or 3 lb of DME. The can alone wont get your OG high enough to give you a decent ABV once you start fermenting. A rule of thumb I always use is whenever I'm adding a kg of corn sugar, I always add between 5 and 8 oz of maltodextrin to give the beer more of a body...
