    Suggestions for a bulk purchase

I would recommend some minor amounts of crystal 20, crystal 60, chocolate, cara pils, and some wheat if you are going to brew some hefe. Also honey malt is a favorite of mine as it seems to go well with IPA, pale, and amber recipes. Good Luck

How do you clean up your keggles and equpment after brewing?

Rinse and store. No issues after many brews. Only scrub keggle after pumpkin ale in the fall. Maybie not enough cleaning, but the brew still tastes great. Work smarter not harder!!

Fresh and Wet are NOT the Same

I could be wrong but is wet hopping a beer just using the dry hops from a prior brew as a bitter in another batch?

    Honey Malt question

In my experiane the honey malt is slilghtley sweet flavor. But using honey after boil leaves more honey notes.

    dry hop

I use whole hops for all my brewing and dry hopping. I also use a sanatized hop bag with lots of marbles to submerge them. I usually dry hop in the fermenter after a week or two. Another way to increase the aroma is double hop by dry hopping for a week, remove the hops and dry hop another oz or...

    Dry Hopping

I have started to dry hop 1 oz for a week then another 1 oz for another week to make my APA taste great. This is also at room temperature. But make sure if you use a hop bag to add some marbles to submerge all the hops, or else they will just float on the top. I first started with 1 oz but found...

    Dry hops to bitter/finish hops?

I have some cascade and galena dry hopping some APA. Can I then take the hops and use them in a boil, as bitter or finish hops? Has anyone tried this before or if so any luck?

    Hops to Trade

I am interested in trading. I have the following types and will check on quantities when you let me know what you want. Fuggle, Cascade, Saaz, Willamette, Perle, Galena, Columbus. PM me for trading oz for oz. I have 2-3 pounds of Fuggle pellets that I am interested in trading with someone.

Thanks for all the feedback. I probably will keep the batch and just leave alot at the bottom when I keg.

    Broken Hydro

:( I put a broken hydro in to some wort to measure and realized it after I did it. The bottom was broken, a lot of the little balls were in the san bucket, not sure if any got into the beer. Should I leave a lot of beer to avoid getting the lead balls into the final product, should I worry...

    Willamette Hops

I was a all grain with the sparge temp at 170. The grain bill was 2-row, crystal 10, crystal 40, carpils, and honey malt. This was a 10 gallong batch that was split at ferment. The other 5 was with Belgium yeast and it fermented out quick and tasted good. This batch took 2+ weeks to stop airlock...

    Willamette Hops

I seem to be getting a VERY woody flavor from using Willamette hops in some recent brew. I used the hops as the bitter and flavoring with German Ale/Krolsh yeast(WLP 029). I like the hops just not the overall flavor. Should I use the WIllamette with Fuggle or Perle/Saaz? Has anyone got the same...

Half IPA, Half Amber Ale... Am I a bastard for wanting to brew such a creature?

I would try taking the popular Pale recipe on this site and adding more crystal 40 & 60 and some biscuit malt if that is the taste you are looking for. I think all looks great except the biscuit addition.

using a immersion chiller in cold climates

Last winter I had to bring the hose to the tub for the thaw before the use, but still worked and faster.

    Gravity reading from glass carboy?

If the refractormeter does not work after the ferment then why does Promash have a program to measure the OG with a refracto after the ferment?

    Hop Flavor

The flavor of the beer is exactly as the hops smelled stale. The beer was not aerated until at or below 80. The hops in question were purchased and arrived with holes in the bag so it seems the hops were frozen and not properly packaged hence the stale smell. Was this from the small amount of...
