    Help Reading AHA Recipe

I am going to make the beer of the month, but the directions seem sparse. Not sure why it is a 90 minute boil. Do i add the Caramalt after 30 mins and the hops after 60? I plan to skip the acid. Thanks in advance...

    Headed to Prague...

I didnt pay more than $2.25 usd for a half litre of beer, so if you are paying a lot more your in a trap. Prague in general is a whacky town, cold war influenced and worth a trip. If you need a hotel try the boot across from the german embassy.

Spike Brewing - Sight Glass Performance

The Spike glass is farther from the kettle. It gets a few bubbles through it, but nothing like the rage in the blich kettles. So yes, it works better in a boil.

    Headed to Prague...

Check out a eatery near the bridge called Lokal. They make a Kozel on sight and its awesome easy drinking dark goodness. Keep in mind you can take a 4-5 hour bus ride to Munich.

    Valve connection suggestions.

I recently bought a Spike pot with the 1/2" 3 piece ball valve. I have the rubber hose to get the good stuff to the carboy, but what kind of connections do you suggest b/w the two? SS quick disconnects seem pretty nice.

True Brew Kit Lager Fermentation Time

I bottled the beer 1.5 weeks ago. I tried one yesterday and it is tasting great, but there is no carbonation at all. I cold crashed it, bottled and left it back in the freezer at 38 degrees. Now i am in the process of warming if 5 degrees. Will it start to carbonate once it gets around 55...

    Slow burner?

If its his 1st batch I suggest 5 gallons on the stove. I actually bought a freezer before a burner bc it is useful when not brewing. $100 could get 2 spare propane tanks?

    Slow burner?

I took my new spike 15g kettle for a test drive using a 220k burner. I took 6 gallons of water from 75 to boiling in a little over 25 minutes. Is it just me or is that a bit slow? http://www.homebrewing.org/14-Propane-Burner--220000-BTU_p_1190.html

True Brew Kit Lager Fermentation Time

It was fermenting strong at 48, which would be a little lo2 for ale yeast. I turned the temp up for 2 days and will lower it to 36 for the next week and rack it.

True Brew Kit Lager Fermentation Time

I purchased a kit of German Black Lager by True Brew. The directions say to lager at 46-52 for 5-7 days then bottle. I was a little suspect at the higher temp and the directions indicated that it should only bubble for 3-4 days. Well, I am going on 11 days now and its still bubbling away...

    Fermentation chamber easy mode

Here some photos of my fermentation chamber as there don't seem to be too many posts on non modified ones. After doing some research into making a freezer collar I decided to just get a 15c freezer, because it was easier. I bought it at Sears for $500, free delivery and its great so far. As...

SD Home Brew Conference (Kind of a Rant)

I have to start by saying that I am new to the forums as I just found this site and it is fantastic. That is why I am posting this to see if I am way off base. I recently was interested in the upcoming conference. I want to upgrade my brew setup, so I figured this is a great chance to check...

    Cajun Beer Recipe?

Most of my family hails from cajun country in Louisiana. I have long heard that my grandfather brewed beer, but no one knows of a family recipe. Really the only thing I know is he would store it under the house and they would occasionally explode. Not sure if he has some old recipe or if...
