Anvil Stainless Bucket Fermentor - thoughts?

I have one and love it. I keg, so I go directly into the purged keg. I had an NEIPA ruined by a partially clogged auto siphon, that and carrying carboys down the stairs made me go for the Anvil ss bucket. I normally dry hop loose in the fermenter and as long as I'm careful with the racking arm I...

    I need help

I recently purchased a precision hydrometer. So much easier to read, but it's soooooo fragile. Precision Hydrometer Link

    I need help

To me it's just a solution looking for a problem. I rarely take more than 3 hydrometer readings, and I don't need to know what the gravity is/was every minute, hour or day. Once before pitching, and (depending on the brew) next in 7-14 days, and maybe another before kegging if it wasn't ready yet.

Dry hop loose producing off flavor

Galaxy is known to cause issues in the dry hop, you need to go light on it. I've gotten much better aroma lately (mostly in NEIPAs) by cold crashing before dry hopping and doing everything possible to eliminate oxygen exposure after fermentation is done. I know it's huge, but check out the NEIPA...

    Thoughts on this Mill

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0771PM16R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Is what I went with. Harbor freight had one, but it didn't have a locking trigger so I returned it and bought this one.

    Thoughts on this Mill

I have that basic model (scroll down to similar products), but I didn't get the northern brewer model. They are all made by the same factory in China, and different distributors add a base and handle, stickers, etc. I got one without a base so I could mount it how I wanted and save a few $. The...

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

I did really kind of puree it, I have a dead-blow hammer that was great at mashing the lumps without tearing the bag. Then I realized that it was going to be difficult to transfer and keep things mostly sanitary without losing any good stuff, so I held the hop sack open and poured the bags into...

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

Thanks RPh_Guy for this thread. I've been following for a while and decided to give it a whirl. I started with a basic grain bill, single step infusion mash with sparge to collect 5.5 gallons into the fermenter 3.5 lbs. 2-Row 4.5 lbs. Pilsner 2.0 lbs. White Wheat 0.4 lbs. Pale Cookie Malt...

    Urgent Help Needed!

I just came across those "kegs" when replying to another new brewer. They are not the same as Cornelius (corny) kegs. From my quick scan of them at best you could dispense very low carbonated beer. Found this video

Kegland Flow Control Keg Ball Locks?

I'm not quite that bad, but with it fully open at 30 psi and 2' of hose I get a 1/8" stream at best, I guess I'll try grinding it down too. Thanks! Any tips/cautions?

Looking to purchase a mini fridge to use as a fermentation chamber with an inkbird

I picked up a dorm fridge from Craig's list for $20 , ripped out the door shelves, added a 2x3 collar to the door and it fits both my Anvil fermenter and my 6.5 gallon carboy.

Why does my beer seem flat?

I can answer a few of these 1) never seen that before - seems like people are using them when I googled 'pressure barrel' there were YouTube videos on how to use 2) Standard in the US - Cornelius Kegs were used by the soda distributors (Coke - pin lock and Pepsi - ball locks) stainless steel...

Can you dry hop right after pitching yeast?

The yeast activity will, to some extent, scrub the hop oils out of solution. So for years the common solution was to wait until the yeast was almost done, that way you didn't lose too much flavor/aroma, but it also kept the O2 introduction to a minimum (since the yeast can clean up a little O2...

    Spotted Lantern Fly Issue

Unfortunately the SLF loves grapes and hops to death. We lost a grape vine 2 years ago, it was insane how they attacked it. Good Luck

    Fermentation Temp Control

Google swamp cooler. Basically you put your fermenter in a bucket of water with fabric draped over you fermenter and also in the water so that it wicks the water up and cools your fermenter as it evaporates. A block or two of ice can help too.
