    WLP300 vs. WLP380

Ok cool. I will look for more details on that then. My basement floor is up around 70-72 here in Iowa and it's kinda keeping me from trying my first California Common. Swamp cooler....hmmmm

    What is "Imperial"?

I recently had my first taste of Dogfish Imperial 90 min. IPA and God, what a fantastic beer! I've had a few others with "imperial" in the title, as well. So... What is the difference between an IPA and an "imperial" IPA or any style and it's imperial counterpart?

    WLP300 vs. WLP380

Water bath? Is that a method for cooling your fermenter? I know I'm off topic here but that is something I'm looking for.

    Roasted jalapeno beer?

Awesome! Thanks Native. I'm gonna let him read this at work. And as far as that chipotle porter, wouldn't that be tasty if you took that a little further and did something like a chipotle chocolate stout?? Def not a session beer but it could be an interesting experience...

    Roasted jalapeno beer?

Thanks a lot for the info. Man, those are all fantastic ideas! I'd like to learn more about that sorbet, too. The fiery sweetness recipe sounds good to me, but he has told me before that he's not much into fruit flavored beers. Maybe just omit the berries? If he wanted to use an extract kit to...

    Roasted jalapeno beer?

A coworker of mine started brewing this year, and has a couple of extract batches under his belt. His jalapenos are starting to look good out in his garden, and he wants to attempt a roasted jalapeno brew. I told him I would ask the pro's on the forums here. He said he wants the jalapeno to be...

    Still not sure...

So tomorrow is bottling day on my American wheat. I asked this question before, but I'm still not really sure. I plan on bottling the first half of the batch as is, and adding raspberry extract to the 2nd half. The question is how much ras. extract should I add? So the bottle of extract is 4...

    My first wheat

Alright, thanks guys. I'll start at 1/4 and go from there. Flavored beers are nice sometimes, but it also seems to be a style that can go wrong fast if you go over overboard. 2 that I really like are Purple Haze by Abita and Orange Blossom by Buffalo Bill's, but I have tasted just as many that...

    My first wheat

Brewing my first wheat today. Extract recipe based on Palmer's Three Weisse Guys American wheat. This will also be my first time not racking to a secondary. I want to bottle the first half as is, and bottle the 2nd half with raspberry extract. So my question is how much ras. extract to use for...

    What should i brew next?

Yeah, that would be great, Weg. Was considering buying the (Surly) Ferocious IPA kit from Midwest. The customer reviews were outstanding, and numerous. Anybody tried that one?

    What should i brew next?

Wegchef, I like your style. Just finished drinking my Sierra Nevada Pale clone. Can't say I have any suggestions, but the tropic weise sounds pretty awesome. Really just wanted to ask where you got the DFH 60 clone kit from?

    Fermenting/Hydrometer Questions

Btw, how hot is TOO hot during fermentation and conditioning? I don't have central air and it's getting really hot here. Currently have a batch of honey amber ale in the bottles for the last week. Was planning on waiting till the carbonation got pretty strong until I moved it down to my...

Budweiser kit into a steam beer?

Thanks JJL, I will squash that part of the plan.

Budweiser kit into a steam beer?

Also, the dry yeast included is Saflager S-23. The description reads that it will "ferment well in lagers and pilseners at slightly higher temps. (between 59 and 68• F) but the estery, fruity tones are better developed lower (between 49 and 57• F)" This (S-23) is also the base dry...

Budweiser kit into a steam beer?

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I will look for some northern brewer at the supply shop. So, the kit includes 3.3 lbs Pilsen light LME and 2 lbs rice syrup solids. Also included 8 oz. of crushed CaraPils. (This leads me to a follow up question- how old is TOO old on these ingredients? I've read a...

Budweiser kit into a steam beer?

So, I'm having a lot of fun homebrewing so far. Finished 3 extract kits. My dad bought me a Budweiser clone kit from Midwest with my equipment. Don't have any place to lager yet. My question is- what could I transform this kit into? If I used the dried lager yeast and fermented like an ale, it...
