Is there a way to also use kegerator for lagering or do I need a 3rd fridge??

Lager fermentation temps are usually OK serving temps. (For most styles anyway...) And while your lagering you just have to let your finished beers warm a little before enjoying.

    Make Beer, not Molotov Cocktails...

A group of protesters were arrested under suspicion of having explosive devices. Molotovs... Carboys full of homebrew... Honest mistake. Hope the NATO police don't come knocking on any of YOUR doors...

    Roast without the color?

I made a couple pale ales that combined Citra and that roasty character that brown malt brings. I finished it with Perle. Those recipes had about 6% brown malt... A lot of folks questioned my sanity for wanting to combine the two, but it turned out to be delicious and well balanced. That...

How do you tell if you have inactive yeast?

Once fermentation does kick in and this thing ferments out, its going to be very sweet. You need to boil in order for the hops to provide bitterness. It'll probably be unbalanced, but it will be beer!

Is a 9 gallon brew kettle big enough?

I've done a few dozen batches in an 8 gallon pot. You should have no problems with it.

12 point 7/8" deep well socket. Go get one and you'll be pleased.

    Does this look strange...

Freaky protein layer... Once fermentation kicks off that stuff will be flying all over the place, but it'll eventually settle out. Nothing wrong with it at all.

    In Portland...any beer suggestions?

I highly recommend Saraveza... It has a very quaint, nostalgic feel. Any place that has a great beer list AND a free bacon night is alright by me. EDIT: Just read your clarification. And I concur that you need look no further than Belmont Station. Re-EDIT: Damn! They've got Pliny on tap...
