Stout/Porter hybrid fermented with Windsor hit 75 F by accident. Would this strip it if mouthfeel?

My chest freezer turned into my Keezer There’s a good chance I’ll do that down the road. I much prefer control. I have a spike conical but it’s got a lager in there. I’m usually pretty good about monitoring it but I forgot to adjust the temp in the room the day I pitched. Left the house and it...

How long to wait out fermentation to avoid gravity readings

Yeah I did. But it was cheaper and I realized it wasn’t going to solve the parts of the issues I wanted to solve. Now I have both. Oops

How long to wait out fermentation to avoid gravity readings

also, I am still new enough that I definitely don't trust my recipe estimations. I am still trying to figure all of that out to a point I am confident in it

How long to wait out fermentation to avoid gravity readings

Everyone has said that about the tilt. I caved and bought one. I need an excuse to brew more beer now.

How long to wait out fermentation to avoid gravity readings

Thanks! I ended up getting a refractometer, only to cave and buy a tilt a week later. Ill probably use the refractometer in my smaller batches so this is good to know

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

That's good to know, however I am finding it quite surprising how averse to having conversations this site it. Yes of course an internet search is always an option but what is the problem with talking to people. A simple "that's inaccurate information and this is why" would suffice. I joined...

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

The guy at my LHB says Molson owns them (I think it was molson he said, none the less it was one of those monster beer companies). NB is terrible. I only just started using them and they screwed up 80% of my first few orders, including screwing up an order they had to send me to send me items...

    Are these grains crushed enough?

I had the same problem last month (twice). NB was good about sending new grain right away but it was only moderately better. As an experiment, I put mine through the pulse feature on my vitamix and sifted out the dust. Not sure it helped a whole lot. The dough roller is a good idea

My lager tastes too thin. How do I fix it? Or can I?

hahaha I figured that would be the answer but I was hoping for a fix as well. There are palatable light beers and then there is thi one

My lager tastes too thin. How do I fix it? Or can I?

I brewed a Mexican lager ~3 weeks ago. I just began my lagering and figured I would take a taste out of curiousity. I was worried this beer would turn out too thin because I had to add water to get the beer over the temperature probe in my CF10 for the temp control. AFter adding water, the OG...

    Best Small Batch Fermenters

Thanks. I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on the tilt. Seems to be a good option. I primarily want more accurate temps and the ability to track the end of fermentation so I know more precisely when to keg/bottle it, rather than taking multiple samples. I unfortunately know too much about...

    Is this an infection?

I've seen it on two batches now. One in glass and one in plastic wide mouth (if this matters). Both times the rafts dropped after about a week (just like the internet suggested they would). I have noticed this happened after the thick foam of particularly feisty fermentations (that had a thick...

Stout/Porter hybrid fermented with Windsor hit 75 F by accident. Would this strip it if mouthfeel?

Understanding how to perceive flavours is probably relevant so I appreciate it! Thanks for the info. Hopefully the sniffer starts to work so I can enjoy this beer

    Best Small Batch Fermenters

I have been trigger shy on the tilt but maybe I should just bite the bullet. My 10 gal spike conical’s probe sits at about the edge of a 5 gal batch and I just had to top up my lager so the probe would be submerged. I was not happy about my gravity going down as a result. Do you find the tilt to...

    Lager Fermentation

I’ve spent countless hours on the internet. I tend to like to collect as much info as possible. There is plenty of not-so great info out there so the more I can find the better. Why not go straight to the horses mouth? Plus, many people on here have great alternative ideas, debunking myths, and...

Stout/Porter hybrid fermented with Windsor hit 75 F by accident. Would this strip it if mouthfeel?

I made a 1 gal Stout/Porter hybrid a couple months ago and absolutely loved it. I was sad to only have a few bottles of it so I made a 5 gal batch recently. 1 gal was done on the stove and 5 gal in spike solo. All Temps were pretty similar but I recently noticed my kitchen thermometer may read a...

    Best Small Batch Fermenters

That SS Brewtech bucket mini looks great. I’m trying to avoid using the plastic as much, particularly for longer fermentations. The wide mouth Fermonsters have been great for me but I want to get into some more advanced fermentations. Anyone know of a similar stainless steel option but that has...
