Can/should you adjust the gravity after fermentation?

All makes sense. I was generally curious as a thought experiment. If I am not going to drink all of it, seemed like an opportunity to experiment. Some good feedback came out of this too. I've started using brewfather to help shore some of this up. Generally speaking though, I am guessing BIAB is...

Best grain bill for a authentic Kolsch

Just found weyermann barke on great fermentations' website

Best grain bill for a authentic Kolsch

I'd definitely like my starting point to be authentic and grow my recipe from there. But I also want it to be repeatable. I still crave food and drinks I have had in foreign countries. No need to add to the growing list lol. I enjoy (most) of the Kolsch's I have had in the US but looking at...

Can/should you adjust the gravity after fermentation?

I bought a bunch of grain from NB and I am beginning to think this may be the reason. Until someone mentioned it above I didn't realize it could be the problem. Their crush is/was terrible with some of the grain. I am also guessing it has something to do with the BIAB process. However, I have...

Best grain bill for a authentic Kolsch

Thanks. I am looking into those too. That Schill sounded interesting though. Still looking for W. Barke. Ill take a look at those companies you mentioned. Thanks

Best grain bill for a authentic Kolsch

Me and NB are rather on the outs lol I have found weyermann in a couple places, but not Barke so far. If NB would actually crush their grains, I may be more inclined to give them another shot. I'm guessing they are partially responsible for my inconsistent efficiencies.

Any preference of these. Weyermann was mentioned here by few. I'm probably going to grab some. I'm not sure I have come across weyermann barke in my searches yet but I also dont know many places to look

Best grain bill for a authentic Kolsch

I am currently trying to find european HBS to ship to the US but haven't had any luck. I am curious if I will like Pilsner better. Thanks for this.

Best grain bill for a authentic Kolsch

I have done a quick search of some of the bigger malt suppliers and I didn't find Schill Kolsch grain. Where do you find it when you can?

Best grain bill for a authentic Kolsch

Generally, yes that would be true but I don't find Kolsch boring. Most of the recipes I have found seem to have munich or vienna as part of the grain bill, however Palmer's and whoever the other guy is's classic recipes book is straight up pilsner. I was worried this would be boring. My pilsner...

Can/should you adjust the gravity after fermentation?

I did swirl it but didn't help in that I didn't see any changes in the tilt reading. It's changed ~1.5 points in 1am feb 7 so I am guessing it can ride it out ok in the keg for the remainder of fermentation? I was going to try my hand and at pressure transfering to a keg to let it ride out the...

Can/should you adjust the gravity after fermentation?

Brewfather said it should have been 1.088. I originally thought it said 1.068 so I didn’t think too much of it. I was aiming for lower 60’s and when I poured it into the fermenter it looked rich like my imperial stout (which I ended up giving away). I didn't really take into account the extra...

Beer from my keg is flat

Interesting. I don't think there is anymore in existence. But this gives me a good reason to a final sweep of the beer room to make sure.

Beer from my keg is flat

Yeah I know. After the initial 10 days at about 75 degrees, I store all my primed beer in their own cardboard boxes, in heavy duty storage bins, in a closet with nothing important. Once I discovered they were over primed I opened them all. I didn't want to take any chances. I wore safety...

Beer from my keg is flat

Yup. It was only crushed a couple days before too. I didn't taste anything that would have hinted an infection. Prying the cap off slowly released some pressure but eventually it just started pushing its way through and overflowing. Didn't send the cap off, mind you I didn't wait to find out...

    Favorite Lager Yeast

What in the Helles didn't work? There is osmething I am trying to figure out with my batch that is lagering and I can't tell if its the citra hops or something else. My palate is still refining its self to all the nuances and profiles.

Beer from my keg is flat

I tried the slow crack on the cap. The foam just forced its way through. I didn't try the ice cold thing. They were closer to dark ale serving temps so maybe that helped the geizer really go. lol

Can/should you adjust the gravity after fermentation?

Thats definitely where I am at. I am slowly purging the remaining beer from batches older than 6 months ago and new ones that just didn't cut it. I can not for the life of me figure out what this after taste is so I ordered a kit from Ward's. I have a water report from a few years ago that may...

Beer from my keg is flat

I have to admit, it got amusing my the third 22 oz bottle. Trying to catch the flow so we could actually drink it was an event all by itself. Sucked too, because this was actually decent beer!
