    Jack's Apricot Vanilla Mead

Great. How much vanilla for a 1 gallon batch, please?

    Jack's Apricot Vanilla Mead

Never mind. I see Zaufendouble did it so there's my answer....unless someone has a quantity to use. :-)

    Jack's Apricot Vanilla Mead

I realize this is a very old thread, but if anyone is still following, do you know if you can use liquid vanilla in place of the vanilla bean? Thanks.

    Dry Hop Question

What temperature range is that? Mid 50s? Also, do you go straight from that to the cold crash or do you bring the temperature back up first. Thanks.

    Dry Hop Question

Hey Folks, I dry hopped a Chinook IPA yesterday afternoon after two weeks in primary. There was zero airlock activity at 2 weeks, but now it is bubbling a little. Does dry hopping create more CO2 or is this activity just from disturbing the wort? Thanks.

How Much Yeast for a 1.5 Gallon Brew

Sounds good. It's getting some bubbling through the airlock, but nothing major yet. Should all 1 Gallon batches be 30 - 40 minute boils?

How Much Yeast for a 1.5 Gallon Brew

Hey All, Thanks for all your help and suggestions. We split the DME powders between 60 minutes and 22 minutes. Ended up pulling it off the burner at about 52 minutes and tossed the last hops in at that point. It was dark but looked lighter in the gravity tube. Target gravity was 1.074. We got...

HELP! Confused and Starting New Brew

I am shooting for the 1.5 Gallon batch. I will start at 2 gallons. Thanks. Thanks. Two gallons it will be. It was suggested that the color will still be darker than preferred (also had a question about the yeast since it appears to call for a whole packet), and that I could offset this to...

HELP! Confused and Starting New Brew

Hey Folks, I am about to do a 1.5 Gallon brew with a recipe off of Brewer's Friend (link below). It calls for a Batch Size of 1.5 Gallons. I get that. It also calls for a Boil Size of 1.5 Gallons. If I start with 1.5 gallons, I obviously won't have that at the end. Do I start with more water...

    New Brewer Yeast Mistake

Unfortunately, Amazon let me down a little. It's not a Barley Crusher but a clone that looks very similar. An Evill Twin from The Vintage Shop. Amazon listed it as Barley Crusher with Northern Brewer as the seller, but did some hocus pocus and switched it up. It has very mixed reviews (some of...

How Much Yeast for a 1.5 Gallon Brew

Does the darker color affect anything except appearance?

How Much Yeast for a 1.5 Gallon Brew

Hey Folks, I am getting ready to brew a 1.5 gallon recipe I found on Brewer's Friend. When it gets to the yeast, it says the quantity is 1 (see below - copy and a link for the whole recipe). If I understand this correctly as 1 packet, everything I have seen seems to indicate that a full packet...

    Caramel / Crystal Question

Thanks. Is base grain something like that flaked oatmeal I saw in the store?

    Caramel / Crystal Question

Hey Folks, I am a very new brewer (in the middle of my first batch). I was looking to make a small batch and found a recipe on Brewer's Friend. It calls for Caramel/Crystal 30L. I have a bag of 45L that I bought for a different recipe. What would the effect of using the Caramel/Crystal 45L in a...

    New Brewer Yeast Mistake

Thanks. This makes me feel easier. Guess I'll just relax and see how this all turns out.

    New Brewer Yeast Mistake

The "why" is mostly because I'm learning and looking at different things, all of which have already been considered, I'm sure. My reasoning would be to get the perceived advantage of moving to a secondary fermentation tank and then being able to bottle right from that. I didn't know if it was a...

    New Brewer Yeast Mistake

I looked at the FB group (one of them, anyway). I like the information I've found here, and I'm still finding new stuff with every click. Here's a thought. Is there any reason I couldn't let the wort sit for a few days in the bottling bucket before I prime it, or are they less airtight? Thanks.
