    drink my beer

For most competitions does it matter if you live in the state that it is in or not? Could I submit beer to contests all over the place?

bought a bunch of beers today here is a pic of what i got

here's my fridge a couple days ago. I had some Rogue american amber and dogfish head 60 and 90, but somehow they didn't make it into the picture.

    Post your infection

i couldn't imagine having a bad batch with some of this nasty stuff growing on top (unintentionally), and actually bringing myself to drink it.

    Bottling in Kolsch top growlers

how long would something that large take to carb though?

    Rogue American Amber tastes yeasty...

Maybe because I poured the whole bottle in, not realizing it is bottle conditioned? Damn it! I only have one too, since I made a mix and match 6 pack at world market. I wanted to taste it to compare what my American Amber is going to taste like, but now it isn't going to taste right. I usually...

HBT dictionary...or commonly misspelled brew terms

I don't know if it was mentioned or not, but what is wrong with "fermentor?" I see it spelled this way in many places, including "How to Brew" by John Palmer.

    Dry hopping an amber?

The only thing is that this is my second batch, and my first one was a Mr. Beer, so maybe I shouldn't experiment. Then I can compare dry hopping to not dry hopping. I dunno. We'll see.

    Dry hopping an amber?

I was thinking about doing this. I have a batch of brewer's best American amber that is ready to go into secondary, and I have an ounce of cascade pellets in my fridge. Should I use them to dry hop it?

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I just read the entire thing and there really is a ton of good knowledge in here for both Mr. Beer and brewing in general. My only gripe is that when I want to go back and look for something in particular, it's impossible to find it in 90 some pages. An index would be very helpful. I've got...

    My 3rd batch is fantastic!!!

If it tastes like Edmund Fitzgerald it's gotta be good. That's one of my favorites. I can't wait to get a few batches under my belt and start experimenting.

Heat produced as a by product of fermentation?

Well thanks for all the great replies. I'll check the temp when I get home and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure what the temperature was when I pitched the yeast, which was another mistake. I cooled the wort to 70 and then just added what felt like room temp water and pitched the yeast. I'll...

Heat produced as a by product of fermentation?

Looks like I'll have to put the fermentor in the basement next time. Maybe even with this one when I get home, depending on the temperature. I didn't realize the temperature would rise that much from room temperature.

Heat produced as a by product of fermentation?

I made my first 5 gallon batch last night with my new brewer's best kit. I did everything the directions said and cooled to wort to 70 degrees, added luke warm water to the 5 gallon mark and pitched the yeast. I put it in the upstars closet and stuck my liquid crystal themometer on the side of...
