I'm drinking a very green bottle of 'Abbey of Leffe Blonde Clone', Still has some work to do, it's only been in the bottle for a week. Tastes pretty good though, actually this is my 2nd tonight, hope it makes it 2 more months!

Mainly for the texans...but what the hell...

Jeez , Texans talking about paying to eat someone else's BBQ!? Much has changed in the 7 yrs I've been in the Navy! Just kidding, but you'd be amazed at how many people don't know what a brisket is outside of Texas.

    AHS Sunshine Wheat (New Belgium)

See if you can find a beer called Hoegaarden. It's relatively common, I think that has the best orange corriander flavor out there, and I'm not crazy about blue moon either. You may end up liking the Hoegaarden, I think that your kit will be most like that one. I've never had that Sunshine Wheat...

    conditioning time vs. OG?

Someone recently posted that they recommend something like 1 wk for every 0.010 pts SG, but I'm not sure. I saw a chart recently that reflected something like 3 months for 1.070 -ish beers (my usual gravity). If I ever come across it agian I'll post it here.

    No Fermentation?

She'll take off, don't worry. You might have should have made a starter, but at worst you'll get some unexpected esthers. As an alternative, don't bother with the blow off tube, it is kinda cool to see the krausen blow the bung out of the carboy 'hands free'!! ;)

    Opened Bottle Of 1st AG

Make sure that you save a few bottles to taste after a 2-3 months! Your likely to switch from "...not what I was hoping for, but drinkable and acceptable for my 1st AG." to "...The best facking beer I've had in my life!!!!"

    higher ABV Hefe

Green, My first AG was a Hefe and it was a disaster. I had a fly sparge that I was using for the first time, and I didn't realize until much later that the little plastic plugs came off of the sides. I ended up improvising by just hosing down the grains with the tube until the runoff basically...

    Man that's bitter...astringent?

I had the same problem with my first few (5) all grain batches. My bitterness was from the 60 minute hops. I was agitating the heck out of them during the boil, because I thought I was getting more goodness from the hops. It turned out that I was getting waaay too much bitter from the hops! Is...

    First Time Brewing HELP!!

Quoted for Truth One of my brewing mentors used to let his brew ferment in an unsealed kettle with a sheet of canvas laid over the top to keep the little airborne bugs out. He's an old timer and he did this in the 50's and 60's. It seems that the CO2 is heavier than the oxygen so it just...
