HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

You are right, I have won the I'm screwed lottery. Wondering if you could provide some additional assistance. I did a complete reinstall per the instructions and followed them to the letter. Everything works smoothly up until this step, "It will ask you where you want the web files...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I agree. I'm convinced it is the relay and I have another one on order from Amazon. Now, something has happened to my pI itself. I dont know if I jostled it or what. I shut it off and rebooted it. It is now stuck at: [ 2.707783] [<c041b9c0>]c(kernal_init+0x8/0xe4) from [<c000e218>]...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Built my brewpi with the help of this forum over a year ago. Brewed countless beers with it. Today, something went wrong and I haven't touched anything. The fridge always is on even if the heat is on. I powered off the brewpi and it is still on even with brewpi shut off. thoughts? TIA

    Hop Extract Calculation

Thanks for posting this info. I have spent countless hours of research on this and have found inconsistent info. When I look at the example you posted, and use 23% from palmer's utilization chart I'm pulling a num of mls to use of 4.08. This is consistent with the brewbrothers calculation...

Adjusting BeerSmith to acomodate for Cold Steeping Dark Grains

Decided to Cold steep my Dark grains via the method outlined by Strong where you steep your grains in room temp water, 2 qts of water to 1lb of grain. I'll add the water after filtering out the grains with ~15 minutes left in the boil. I have about 4 lbs of dark grains in my recipe for a 12...

    adding pumpkin to Beersmmith

Not sure what others are doing as I hijacked onto this thread. I've always added fresh roasted pumpkin to the mash. The problem I'm having is figuring out how much water to add to my recipe through BeerSmith to accommodate for the pumpkin being added to the mash. I can't imagine adding pumpkin...

    adding pumpkin to Beersmmith

Thanks for the reply jhall. I guess what I will do is not include the pumpkin into BeerSmith and then make a guess on the low side of how much extra H2O to add. Then top off my BK to get to desired volume. I'm guessing fresh Pumpkin will add a negligible amount of fermentables therefore my...

    adding pumpkin to Beersmmith

Hope its ok to add on late to this thread. I made a pumpkin beer last year and did not account for the pumpkin in beersmith which obviously jacked everything up. I added Pumpkin as Grognerd showed in his screen shot. My recipe calls for 12 lbs of fresh cooked pumpkin for my 12 gallon batch...

EMERGENCY!!! No fermentation batch after batch. Probably grain-related

If you haven't already, you may want to ask over at probrewer.com. There are many commercial brewers over there that may have experienced this same issue. http://discussions.probrewer.com/forumdisplay.php?29-ProBrewer-Message-Board

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Hmmmmm... If it continues to crash I'll bust a hole through the garage and wire up an ethernet cable. Have to find some time to do this when the wife is not at home as I have promised her I was done with this little project. :mug:

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Yes. Brand new CanaKit. The first crash was resolved by simply restarting the pi. The 2nd crash, I had to go and reconnect the Wifi. 2 separate reasons for a crash is having me lean towards a heat issue. I'm going to try to cool the area down and see if that solves the issue.

No, not overclocking. However, I do live in SoCal and currently the temperature where the BrewPi is located is 96F. Do you think this could be a temperature issue?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Currently fermenting a DIPA that I brewed yesterday. Have it set at beer constant of 68F. Fermentation has been active so my fridge has been running at around 60F. The pi has crashed twice today but the UNO has kept everything pretty much in control. There is one odd behavior that I wonder...

Cells needed is more than 1 step but less than 2

Getting too close to brewday Sunday at this point so I'm gonna stop on the way home from work and pick up another vial of CalAle. So with the 2nd vial I only need to do a one step starter which at 1.5 L will get me 406 Billion. Based on all of your comments on this post I'm not going to stress...

Cells needed is more than 1 step but less than 2

Based on this calculator: http://www.brewersfriend.com/yeast-pitch-rate-and-starter-calculator/ I chose ProBrewer 1.0 as target pitch rate as my DIPA I would assume is a High Gravity ale. The result when I choose this pitch rate is 360 billion. Should I choose a different pitch rate from this...
