Planning first Belgian (golden strong ale)... what to do after fermentation?

Yeah I have the same issue as you do with pressurizing a beer to higher than average/serving pressure. I also have my CO2 rigged up inside my keezer so it wouldn't be convenient to pressurize at room temperature. All of this combined with the general theme of this thread has me leaning pretty...

Planning first Belgian (golden strong ale)... what to do after fermentation?

I don't think you have to worry about having enough yeast in suspension. I've effectively bottle conditioned beers after cold crashing without pitching conditioning yeast. I think it comes down to your preference for clarity.

Planning first Belgian (golden strong ale)... what to do after fermentation?

Interesting. Frankly not what I want to hear since kegging is so darn simple and bottling such a pain. If I remember, I'll come back to update this thread in a few months once I have an opinion on this current batch. I highly doubt I'll actually make it six months, I have the patience of an 8...

Planning first Belgian (golden strong ale)... what to do after fermentation?

I'm glad OP started this thread as I recently had a similar question. I brewed a 10.5% ABV Belgian Quad about 3 weeks ago and my intention is to age this beer for a minimum of 6 months. It sounds as though OP and I have a similar setup except my fermentation chamber can only fit my fermzilla. So...

    3.5 CU Freezer Fermentation Chamber

You could probably get away with a 2x4 collar if you're not using a hop bong. There's quite a bit of clearance with the 2x6. I'm not going to lie, that part isn't fun, but for a 30 something weakling it's still easily manageable. Just make sure your handles are locked on and maybe buy yourself a...

    3.5 CU Freezer Fermentation Chamber

Thanks! I'll post an update, as I've completed a handful of brews using this chamber. It's worked extremely well, with the only issue I've experienced related to the blow-off tube Using a ball-lock on fermentations with high krausen that makes its way out of the fermenter made me nervous, so I...

Pumpkin Ale with London Ale III? (Foggy London Ale)

It seems odd to me that the same yeast that I know works with a hazy IPA would work with a brown/fall ale. Thanks for the feedback! I'm going to give it a go regardless for kicks but thought I'd ask

Pumpkin Ale with London Ale III? (Foggy London Ale)

I'm planning a pumpkin ale for fall - I'll share my tentative recipe below, but suffice it to say that's it's fairly standard as far as fall pumpkin spiced beers go. The TL;DR here is: will london ale III play well in a beer of this style? I have the foggy London Ale strain from escapement...

    Beer Aging Dilemma

Specifically aging, yes. Sorry if that wasn't clear!

    Beer Aging Dilemma

I know this question has been asked a million times in one way or another, but I haven't been able to find a satisfying answer so I thought I'd start a poll to make it as straightforward as possible. I'm looking into brewing some bigger beers (8-11% ABV), namely imperial stouts and Belgian...

FermZilla Tri-conical with hop bong pressure kit

I'm guessing you've probably already shared this in the past, but would you mind posting your recipe here? My first attempts at hazy IPAs have not gone very well. Cheers!

FermZilla Tri-conical with hop bong pressure kit

Shoot, I just fermented a kveik at around 38C 😅 Good to know, thank you

FermZilla Tri-conical with hop bong pressure kit

Hmm, I thought the little notched section where you're supposed to drill is level. That's very silly they would design it that way but I suppose the thermowell doesn't take priority. I'll have to wait til it arrives to take a closer look. I'm not against just taping the temp controller to the...

FermZilla Tri-conical with hop bong pressure kit

I dont go over 40*C with the fermzilla. I think it's rated a bit higher than that. The other thing is they don't recommend prolonged PBW soaks. 20 min or less IIRC. I built my own keg washer (similar to the SSBT one) and made a second attachment for the fermzilla. It works really well, and keeps...

FermZilla Tri-conical with hop bong pressure kit

My hop bong is still enroute to me, but I've drilled a couple of the standard fermzilla lids with no issues. They recommend using a stepped bit, but I don't see a need for it. I just used a regular 1/2" bit (if I recall correctly - double check the size) in my drill press. It's a tight fit but...

    Oxebar Keg?

I can attest to this, I made a stout back in November that I kegged in a couple Oxbars. I finished the last of the two kegs tonight and it still tastes great!

FermZilla Tri-conical with hop bong pressure kit

Yeah mate, it sounds like a case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it", that is a beautiful beer! The concerns I'd have with fermenting in a keg don't seem to be issues for you. My biggest concern might just be simply not being able to see the fermentation as silly as that is. You seem to have...

Anvil Brewing Pump XP - first impressions?

After a bit of a break, I got back to brewing the weekend before last and got my first experience using a pump! Having nothing to compare it to, it's difficult to provide much info on the new Anvil XP but here is what I noticed: - The pump was absolutely silent, you could barely tell it was on...

FermZilla Tri-conical with hop bong pressure kit

I've never tried fermenting in a keg myself. I only recently picked up my first two kegs and have so far only brewed once since, having just completed the transfer to the keg this weekend. It went fantastic from start to finish, and I'm really happy with how my process has developed over these...
