I am a plumber and M or L copper even soft copper is fine for use. The solders we use and flux are all safe for drinking water... Lead free!. There is no difference in copper in your brew kit to whats in your house beside wall thickness. Copper is only bad if you try to smoke through it...

Alot of times what we smell = flavor. So does it add.... well not really but smell and taste are pretty intertwined. Best way I can explain it. I would like to know more information if this is different as I don't know how without the heat its going to add to the flavor.

If any flavor it would be ever so slight. Alot of times its a placebo/precieved effect.

Dry hopping is for aroma.

I did my first ever batch on Tuesday aswell but I am a patient person. I am going 3 weeks primary 2 weeks dry hopped secondary and deciding between kegging or bottling first. Bottling looks like a pain lol. Good luck.
