    Patience with fermenting?

I'm pretty sure it was close to 5 when we started. However I might've been overestimating the level of Krausen so I could actually have closer to five than I thought. I was just trying to get the lid closed as quick as possible.

    Patience with fermenting?

So after moving my hail hail to the basement, the internal temperatures reading right around 68, which I think is better than the aforementioned 72°. However, after not seeing any airlock activity for the last two days, I became concerned with my yeast pitch.I cracked open the top and saw a...

+1. As a new brewer, I've read about 10 books on Homebrewing. His is by far the best, and I'm not even to all grain brewing yet.

Glass top stove and a 5 gallon brew pot

I tried my first brew in a 7.5 gallon stainless kettle on our glass top stove. Needless to say, I could barely get it to 155 to steep the grains. I ended up steeping the grains while I ran to the hardware store and grabbed a turkey fryer, which came with a nice burner and a 7.5 gallon aluminum...

    Patience with fermenting?

There's no gunk or anything in the airlock, and when you press on the lid there are bubbles and sanitized water moves around it's just not constantly bubbling anymore. I was debating on going to a secondary or not, because when I poured the wort into the fermenter I did not do a very good job...

    Patience with fermenting?

I know I just need to be patient, but I'm so new! We brewed our first brew, and Amber Ale from a kit. We used a Wyeast Liquid Yeast however. I'm not sure if I agitated the wort enough or not... It's a 5gal batch, fermenting in a 6.5 gallon ale pail. After about 12 hours, the airlock was...

    Brand new from St. Louis

So just over a month after joining, I finally brewed my first batch. Last night we brewed an 5 gallon Amber Ale from Midwest. Had a couple problems getting it going on the stove, so we moved to a propane burner which worked great. Pitched a different yeast than the one that came with it and...

    Brand new from St. Louis

I heard about this forum from some buddies on Puff.com, a cigar forum. A buddy and I are going to start brewing in a couple of weeks, we don't even have the supplies yet. I figure I can learn quite a bit here so I don't screw up too bad when we do get started. I can't wait to get to know you...
