have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

You're doing this without a floating dip tube? So the first pours are yeast but there's enough left at the end to restart another ferment?

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

Yeah I keep a spunding valve on mine and assume that once it has stopped increasing pressure for ~48h things are done. That can happen very quickly. I just split a 5G batch into 2 spent kegs (with yeast left at the bottom) to test out new wort on "old" yeast. Both went nuts for 24-48h, then...

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

For those fermenting, naturally carbonating, and serving from the same keg, how do you confirm that fermentation is complete? I'd rather not open up the sealed and pressurized keg, I feel like that defeats the purpose. So far I've just left 2 ales for 14 days and then cold crashed. FG readings...

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

Yeah I have seen that a little before but this is easily the worst I've had it, and this is my first use of the floating dip tube. I think it's longer than I need so I may trim it. Just wondering if there are alternate or recommended floating tubes too. Edit: I should add that I have wall mount...

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

My first ferment & serve in the same keg is being consumed now and my 2nd is happily fermenting away with my spunding valve set to 30 psi (and hissing!). My issue has been with the floating dip tube and getting some foam/sputtering when I open the tap. After a second it comes out smooth. I...

    First Keg Ferment

Good tip, I upped the PRV to about 30 psi, we'll see how that goes.

keg fermenting and reusing yeast, pitching fresh wort into a "dirty" keg

This makes sense. How many times have you re-pitched wort onto the same yeast? I've read it's better to go from lighter to darker beer styles if you're doing this. I'll give it a shot next time I have the opportunity. I need more kegs(!)

    First Keg Ferment

Fair enough, I'll see how this one goes and experiment from there. After ferment, do you cold crash and serve, or wait some time?

keg fermenting and reusing yeast, pitching fresh wort into a "dirty" keg

Thanks I was looking to try the same. Have you ever encountered dead/starved yeast for any reason, like a keg that was around in the fridge for a long time before being finished. I'm curious about the amount of yeast as well. What are the risks of under pitching? Does fermentation change if the...

    First Keg Ferment

Well, connected it to CO2 last night at 10 psi, gave it a bit of a purge and then reconnected by spunding valve, which then showed about 8 psi and holding, so I left it. Woke up this morning and checked and was up to ~25psi. I set my PRV to around 20 and we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the...

    First Keg Ferment

Safe to give it a CO2 blast now? Just to like 10 psi?

    First Keg Ferment

I recently got a kegerator and decided to try my first keg ferment. I wanted to ferment and serve in the same one, so built a spunding valve to try and monitor pressure. So far I'm ~72 hours in and there's no pressure built up. How long should this take? Should I have started with a blowoff...
