Lid taken off and put back on, batch lost?

the lid on one of my fermenting buckets never even snapped on, and none of those batches were ever harmed.

How many Co2 tanks ya got?

i have 1 5lb tank. I just started kegging earlier this year. I'm currently carbing my 7th keg with it. I expect it to run out any moment now.

    Question about honey wheat

I agree. I have gotten much more honey taste from honey malt over actual honey.

    First time Lagering Question

my first lager didn't do anything for about the first 3 days at 50 F. I left it out over night at room temp (~68-70 F). The next morning there were signs for fermentation so I put it back in the fridge at 50. Everything turned out fine for that beer.

Suggested hop pairings for Galaxy and Mosaic?

I have done four batches of a Galaxy APA. 3 batches used Galaxy hops only. Very little for bittering since the AA is pretty high. The other batch used Glacier for bittering and then Galaxy for later additions. All have turned out fine and I have tried a few variations with steeping grains. Honey...

    Cleaning and drying siphon tubing

same here. I run water through it right after using it and then usually oxiclean it with whatever other equipment is soaking in oxiclean. Rinse out good with water, hang on hook, then run StarSan through it prior to next use.

    Yeast for a smoked porter

I used us-05 for both smoked porters I brewed. I have nothing to compare it against, but both turned out well and the yeast didn't appear to impart any flavors. One was fermented closer to 68, while the other was closer to 62.

    Show us your Kegerator

pretty basic design. Stained the wood to match the cabinets as best as I could. Painted the freezer using hammered black so it would match the rest of the kitchen appliances as best as possible. The drip tray is attached using 3 3 inch L brackets. The brackets are attached to the freezer with 3...

    bottling a bourbon barrel porter

i have done two similar recipes and did not add any extra yeast. Both used one packet of US-05 from the start. Both turned out great with about perfect carbonation. Just give the beer time. This one really hit it's stride after 3 months.

I need a summer brew that IMPRESSES!!!

Centennial Blonde has turned out quite well. I had a "beer snob" over this weekend and he wanted to drink some of my beers. I told him all that I had available and he snickered at the Blonde; too simple and light for his complex taste. Eventually he poured one and that's the only beer he had...

why did my keg empty into the bottom of my keezer?

i had a slow leak on the shank nipple that I noticed today. Probably only lost a total of 2 pints, but still a loss. I thought I had it tightened down well and had keg lube on the threads of the MFL.

    Kegerator only pouring thick foam

is the faucet fully opening? I know if I don't open mine all the way, perlick and picnic, then the beer foams a lot more.

    Honey Wheat

The only time I've gotten a honey flavor is using honey malt. The most I've ever used is 8 oz and it wasn't overbearing. I used 4 oz for my last Galaxy Pale Ale and it had a nice subtle honey taste to it that calmed some of the bitterness from the Galaxy hops.

    Arduino Based Keezer

I just decided on the same thing for mine. Instead of gluing the collar down I was going to put a brace on the back to keep it from sliding. Then I decided to go with door hinges to attach the collar to the freezer. I will probably access the keezer by opening the lid mostly, but I'll have the...

Different taste in different sized bottles.

i've noticed something similar early on in conditioning. With time things become more uniform, but there still may be slight differences.

    us-o5 or wyeast 1056

i did this kit last year with us-05 and it was fine. I'd even wash this yeast afterwards and keep it around for more brews. I've used it in a lot of different beers so far.
