I have 3 of them in my uninsulated, detached garage and have not had an issue. I have only had them for one winter. The lowest temperature we had last year was 5 degrees. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I need to read up on how many IBU's are gained from whirlpool additions. I was under the impression it was negligible.

This was posted a little while ago. This line doesn't make sense to me. How do you calculate that many IBU's from a whirlpool addition?

I have seen AC fans at radioshack.

I am with you on the wiring diagrams. If you decide this is something you want to tackle I would post the diagrams in the electric brewing sub-forum and ask for help. With that said, I would think your original idea would work as well.

It depends on the AC units. I have one with a manual thermostat and I was able to turn the adjustment screw enough to get down to 40F in my ferm chamber. This was very easy to do. The other option is to bypass the AC's thermostat wiring and wire your temp controller directly to it.

I will have to say I was cussing everyone of you experts this weekend. This was a huge pain. But seriously, thanks for posting your hint/tips. I would have given up if I didn't know so many other people had succeeded. The beer taste much better now (especially the first pour). I am sure it...

I plugged my chest freezer (converted to a kegerator) into a Kill-A-Watt. I think it came out to about $2 a month. It will be a little different outside.

Denny, can you please post the location of the results.

Now try to ferment that out and then take a gravity reading.

I double checked last night and my input is 3/4" as well.

I went through amazon to order the pumps. They shipped in 3 business days with a UPS tracking number. No problems at all.
