    Bitter Feedback

I dropped the honey, and decided to add 1.5 lbs of pils. Why you ask? Because I grabbed the wrong damn bucket and started pouring pils on top of my specialty grains, thinking 'I sure do use a lot of pils' then realizing my error. Got most of it out.. I have a question about the yeast. If I...

Beer too sweet, what would you do?

Ever think that the yeast didn't stop? Maybe they did their job and were done. If you repitch onto 'wort' that has no fermentables left, what is going to happen?

    SS braid keeps sticking!

I have a similar setup, using a bazooka screen, More surface area definitly helps - it gives more room for the trub to be caught, but still letting the wort through. I recently saw one of these. I've found that if I prop up one side of my kettle while chilling, it keeps the trub away from...

    Kegs vs bottles

For bottles you need bottles, caps, filler wand, siphon or bottling bucket w spigot, capper and sugar(some sort of primer) and patience. Pros - portability, less space needed in the fridge, variety, cost, and you can make your own labels! keep a few to compare to the next batch, or see how...

    Does this look normal (2)

Everything is fine. WLP029 is one of my favorite strains. It has best results though at a lower temp, closer to 65-68degF. And liquid yeast generally begins to work quicker than dry yeast (unless you've rehydrated). :mug:

    Northern Brewer

I just placed an order last week with NB. I double checked date prices today, and it would have been more BEFORE shipping. Not sure about any of the equipment or previous non-flat-rate items, but the price on hops has gone up, but the price on grain has gone down. And. It looks like they've...

    New

I would find a turkey fryer on amazon- make sure you get at least a 7 gal pot. This way you won't have to upgrade to do full boils. Buy 2 carboys/buckets and an immersion chiller. A hydrometer and test jar, a big spoon if you don't have one. Stoppers and bubblers. Auto-siphon. The bottles...

    strawberry harvest clone

so, unfortunately, it's a swing and a miss. there was a slight imperfection in the beer. couldnt quite put my finger on it - a slight paper taste. i hoped the strawberry juice would cover it. i think it had something to do with ferm temps. other than that, the strawberries were quite tart...

Starter for a Pilsner (lager) Question

If you reads the earlier posts, you'll see that the size of the starter was based upon not just the beer that was being brewed, but the viability of the yeast as well. Since the yeast was 4 months past production, the larger stater was needed to get the right cell count (which is of the utmost...
