    My first try at creating a recipe..need notes!

    my og actually came in higher than expected. around 1.071,a full ten point greater than the projected... can anyone explain this for me.. the pre boil og was actually 1.061 which was the target for the whole batch.. i mashed at 150-153 for about 75 mins and sparged with 1 qt for every 2 lbs...

    yeast harvesting question

    so this is all i got after a night in the fridge ..the yeast is wyeast 1056 which has medium to low flocculation...so my question is should i pour the whole thing intommy starter...seems like alot , or should i decant the liquid off, im concerned because the clarity of the "beer" in the two jars...

    this was my first attempt at making a starter the strain is white labs cali v ale. on the white labs site is says 2 pints to a half cup dme, for o.g's over 1.060...im doing the bear racer ipa clone from austins, it has an original gravity of 1.072... i pitched the yeast into the wort last night...
