Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Just water it down now IMO if you still have krausen, you don't have the hop heft needed for that ABV. At 151f I'd be pretty confident that the notty will have it down to 1.010 and very soon. If you can catch it before then you can tie up some of the oxygen you'll be adding. Though if it's...

Very low activity on the airlock after 2 days of fermentation

Just to add that the leak and the airlock activity are entirely not connected. The wort is a liquid, and thus not compressible. So, if the pressure is to be lost through that leak instead of out the airlock, then liquid would leak, a fair amount of it too. 28 points over two days is cruising...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Yep, 2 years - and of course I smelled it lol. 1st whiff "not at all bad", then I got brave and took a big pull into the nostrils.... Honestly it didn't smell near ad bad as I thought it would. Yours looks like I could crush a growler of it on a boat in midsummer. Mine was strawberry tart too...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I'm much too late and guessing you either skipped it or did it, but.... When I did this I used fresh strawberries for an added risk, because the fruit stand was closer to my house than the store. Anyway, I washed them under warm water well, cut the stems, halved them, then froze them. Thawed...

    SS Convoluted Counterflow Wort Chiller?

Agreed, I thought about doing the wire thing to mine when I made it (mine is 3/8 SS core with 3/4 rubber hose jacket). Decided not to because it would have increased the cost, was likely a huge PITA, and most of all it would have forced me to wait longer... I had all the parts but the wire. In...

Need cleaning tips for 50' SS IC

Ya, so I was addressing the original question - but overall I just put the thing in with my hot PBW water that's is used to clean the kettle after a brew... On a good day I might swirl/shake it around a couple times while it soaks. As always it goes into the boil with 10 minutes left too. This...

Anyone know if this could be of any use in homebrewing?

Chemical mixer? No thanks, gross. Now, it does look like a nice chunk of stainless for free, I'd be off to the scrapyard.

RIMS tube as a tankless water heater for a sink?

RIMS tube as a RIMS tube.

    Removable "floating" collar on keezer?

I used 100% silicone caulk for this exact reason. I put down 6 small hard rubber dots(for glasstop furniture) down onto the keezer, then put a thick bead of silicone down all around it and over the dots. I then put the collar on and let it set. The dots keep the silicone from smashing...

Need cleaning tips for 50' SS IC

Harbor Freight ~$80 electric pressure washer. Or spread them. I'd bit the bullet and let the water spread them personally, fully aware that at some point down the line I would deeply regret my laziness(such as winter). Homebrew would be applied to sufficiently reduce both the awareness and the...

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

Ya have to drink the beer faster is all. I do the same as you. Honestly, I've not served from the primary keg yet, but the only reason is because I harvest the yeast. The way timing has worked, I've just always hit it such that I was ready for the yeast about the same time I was ready for the...

    New BIAB False Bottoms

Here's My 17.5 in my 17 11/16 kettle - such a perfect fit. Note that any differences in the fit around it are because I've got the kettle out of round over the years rather than the false bottom.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

What's wrong with it would depend on the smell. I don't run into this as I run it down the drain. I would be doubtful it's the hops side of things unless someone hates the hop smell. The lowest boiling point I'm aware of for the compounds in hops is 223F(other than any residual H2O), with most...

    Sous Vide Turkey?

I'd recommend it. My only hindsight was to do it BEFORE a big holiday meal. It was a little stressful doing it the first time on thanksgiving.

English Porter Black Pearl Porter (AG)

Haven't brewed this one (next up) but I can tell you I've never been dissappointed by either ones recipes. My always on tap session beer flips between Centennial Blonde and Haus Pale ale for about 4 years running now, still can't decide which I like more.

    Sous Vide Turkey?

Lol, I was thinking someone would say this. Unfortunately, I have none - a testament to how delicious it was.

    Sous Vide Turkey?

Um, ya, this was amazing. Juicy and flavorful(thyme, sage and rosemary added to bags). I forgot to temp probe until about 15 minutes after it came out of the water. Based on that (125f), I seared them to make sure they were good(133 when done searing), likely unnecessary but added great color to...

    Sous Vide Turkey?

I did end up cutting it up, per the article posted above, as I was worried about fitting it in the bag. Dark meat 24 hours, light 12 hours, due at 4pm. Results will be posted...
