    Growing Hops in Charlotte

as long as I get a few ounces for my wet hop session ipa I will be pleased! I did accidentally break off the tip of one of the bines. Any experience with this...It literally is the tip part that is leading the outward growth. Will it regrow and continue to go or will it stop and just focus on...

    Growing Hops in Charlotte

Ahhh good call! Yes I did have a little slope to it and have been wrapping it each day if it comes undone at all so it seems they are grasping their new task a little more each day! The rhizomes I got came from a 5 year old bine that was harvested in April. I assuming I fall in to the year one...

    Growing Hops in Charlotte

Wow that looks amazing!!! I just finished creating/adding the second part to my trellis system so they can go horizontal. I'll try to get a better up close picture of the hops tonight. Seems like some flowers are starting to set it!

Thought I'd check in -- how are your hops coming along? Mine are coming along decently. Ended up with 5 bines climbing up about 4.5 ft vertical so far and now they are starting their horizontal adventure.

Hoppy Blonde Ale -- dry hop suggestions

Hi Everyone! I recently brewed my blonde ale recipe and am looking to add a little twist to it this time by adding a decent dry hop to make it a hoppy blonde and was hoping for some suggestions from you all in what would give me the best success. Grain Bill: 2 row, oats, Caramel 10, caraplis...

    Brewing on a time constraint

hmmm wonder what the best way around no handles would be. If you look in to a new bag I got "The Brew Bag" and it has been fantastic for me!

    Brewing on a time constraint

I do BIAB and it was a game changer for me in terms of time as well as quality getting my efficiency up. I rigged together a simple little hoist system with just a ladder and a ratchet strap/tie down -- check the picture out. I simply lift the grain bag out when needed and hang it on the hooks...

    Any other NC hop growers?

I'm in Charlotte and growing for the first time! Got some cascade rhizomes from a brewery and planted them. I've got 5 trained and currently growing on vines. I'm curious how my growth so far compares to you guys?

Peanut butter powder in secondary - stir in our leave alone?

You'll be fine not sterilizing. Just did more or less the same beer and was fine. If it's higher ABV that alcohol would more or less protect it. I gentled stirred mine to incorporate it and racked on top of the PB2 How long do you plan to let it sit on PB2? I did two total weeks. After one...

Have you tried taking about the CO2 post? See if there is blockage there or any issues with the rubber gaskets.

First Keezer Build Arctic King 5cu ft

Here is what I did for a decently cheap drip tray option. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but it does the trick :) I got three wall brackets (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Blue-Hawk-Steel-13-in-D-x-15-5-in-L-x-2-in-W-White-Shelf-Bracket/4086664) and attached 3-4 magnets on the back of each...

    BIAB Mashing Out

Great to hear! Trying to keep costs in check lately with first little one arriving any day. I'll try to configure it to run on a drill.

    BIAB Mashing Out

Good deal! I have looked at a low entry cost for something like that such as a corona mill. I know it's not as big and bad as other options, but for around $30 with a corona mill can I accomplish the finer crush?

    BIAB Mashing Out

Have not dabbled in to the super fine crush yet -- usually a double crush at the homebrew store. When you say fine do you go as far as flour like?

How to achieve "snap" or "Bite" in beer

Do you bottle or keg? Taking a guess at it and not really any science behind it, but when I went from bottling to kegging I got what you are describing. I went from smooth (and probably somewhat under carbonated) to getting that bite, that crisp ending.

    BIAB Mashing Out

I do the same exact thing and noticed the same results! Prior to the dunk sparge I was around 70% and now I easily get 80-85% every time.
