I want to try it again (without the help of that friend lol) and was kind of curious if i should make any changes. It is a caramel wit partial mash 4.4#...

Well its already down to the fg i want. 1.030 to try keep it sweet but it tastes weird. All iced tea flavor is gone and theres no flavor from the malt extract just a strange lemon flavor. I added 2 cups of real tea i steeped with 4 tea bags each and its better but now im going to pretty much...

    Twisted tea clone

Thanks i checked it out and figured i would try a extremely simple way and only do a 1 gallon batch. I used 1 pound light dme and 4 cans of nestea lemon iced tea frozen concentrate in roughly 2L of water which filled my fermentor perfectly and came out at 1.075 og. I used a teaspoon of...

    Measuring priming sugar

I forgot you posted this. So i guess that lady at the store is out to lunch then good. I should still go buy a scale i had to make an educated guess on how much grain to use brewing last night lol

    Measuring priming sugar

No unfortunately i dont have any brewing books. And any info i find is always in oz weight so i guess i should just go buy a cheap kitchen scale. And im sure my red ale that i added 3/4 of a cup to will be fine

    Measuring priming sugar

Ok so i was talking to a lady at a lhbs and she told me i should have used 2 cups dextrose for priming and that i should dump it all back in the bucket add the rest of the sugar and rebottle. That seems like alot was she out to lunch? Im more curious for my next fewbatches im not going to touch...

    Measuring priming sugar

Ok awesome i added 3/4 of a cup to 1 cup of boiling water and added it slowly to the beer as i was racking it to the bottling bucket. Then gently stirred so im sure it will turn out fine

    Measuring priming sugar

Im going to bottle my red ale soon and all it says in the instructions is to add 1/2 a teaspoon to each bottle. I used an app that calculated just under 5 oz. now would that be 5oz in a measuring cup or 5oz weight? Because i don't have a scale. If that is weight roughly how much should i add...

Adding yeast nutrient a week into fermentation

Im just curious if its a good idea as the 2 batches i rehydrated the yeast seemed to have a much more active fermentation. Im not sure if i need to or not but i just want it to have the best possible chance of fully fermenting as the yeast with the extract kits was past the best before date

Adding yeast nutrient a week into fermentation

I am just curious about boiling some bakers yeast and adding it (once cooled) to my beer that has been fermenting for a week. I have 2-5 gallon batches and 2-2 gallon batches brewing and with 1-2 gallon and 1-5 gallon i rehydrated the yeast and that seemed to work way better so should i add the...

    Pumpkin spice ale

Well i decided to take a very quick smell of the fermenting beer and it smells really good you can really smell the spices so now im not too sure. I did add almost twice as much to the hop sack so maybe ill just wait and smell it when i go to bottle to decide i dont want to over do it

    Pumpkin spice ale

Its a extract beer so i only boiled the spices for 5 mins then removed from heat and then added the extract. I was wondering if adding the spice before bottling was a good idea or not so i think i will give it a shot. Thanks

    Pumpkin spice ale

Im currently about 3 days into fermentation of a pumpkin spice ale from mr beer and it is their own recipe. It calls for mulling spice to be added in a hop sack just as the water starts to boil before you add the hme. I let it boil for a couple minutes and left it in until i poured it into the...
