Is this the worst beer ever sold???

I posted this almost word for word more than a year ago in a similar post!! A grocery store 6 pack, not particularly expensive, and terrible. I've not had any others that were nearly that bad, out of 1042 unique ones that I've had. Not all to my liking, but none that BAD.

    stc-1000 relay.

Disconnect the power to the STC and the Freezer, remove both wires from the cooling relay and cover with tape or wire nuts. Set your meter to OHMS/Resistance lowest scale, connect the probes to the 2 cooling terminals. If you get a zero reading (or anything close to zero), then the relay or...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Don't scrimp on the tape, 5-6 wraps can't hurt.

    Boil Control with Pontentiometer?

Never thought about that, but I'd never get used to it!

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

This stuff. It's great stuff. I have it in my carboy wraps as well. Controlled by an STC-1000+, the reprogrammed one from this thread. They range from 6 - 23 watts per foot. Here is the naked view. I think I posted some more a number of pages back.

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

Awesome. My last LHBS stop finally had a new gasket. Previous stop I asked but they had no clue they were even available. They still don't know the lid is available it seems. I asked.

    Auber Voltmeter and Ammeter

2 wires for the 240v, hot & hot, no neutral. The coil goes over 1 hot wire, and it's 2 wires go to the board. The coil senses the current. I'm putting my sense coil on the hot lead that also feeds my RIMS when on 120 so I can monitor the higher use line.

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

The original thermowell and the replacement SS one I bought, even when loaded up with tape, screw in till the hex touches the FF surface without any significant effort. I remove it periodically to clean it, and load it up with fresh tape, and make sure none is left over from the last round. So...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

There were some discussions a while back about various ways and devices for pulling samples from the FF. I added a brass 'ballcock' valve, and others added a Tee to the thermowell, and probably many more. Some were pretty good, some not so. I happened upon the valve I had removed from my 10 gal...

    Auber Voltmeter and Ammeter

I have not used the Auber units, but have you considered a combo unit that displays volts and amps in a single display? I just bought this one, but have not tried it yet. It is functionally the same as the Auber item 490, and 1/2 the price.

    Boil Control with Pontentiometer?

I used an SSVR for another project, a blower for a bronze casting furnace, and found that the typical potentiometer range is terrible. 2/3 turn of the control does nothing, then the last 1/3 gives 100% of the range. This gave terrible fine control. I then found "Reverse Logarithmic"...

I HATE the TV shows my wife watches

This spot on for us as well. I gave up on what I want to watch loooong ago, and brew beer or work on projecs when she's watching something dumb. Thank goodness she does not like any of the tabloid shows, or garbage reality. Vampires, Pretty Little Dumba$$es and crime solving dramas abound...

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

    Bummer, thanks.

    Stc-1000+

Mats, any chance you could hop over to the PI (mashing) thread and comment on my post from a few days ago? I'm working on testing this version with my setup, in F, and not really sure where to start with the settings. Any chance the profile builder page will get updated to include this one? John

    Stc-1000+

Yes that's the ramping process. See this link for building and 'seeing' what you set using Mats profile builder.

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

I scanned through the 15 pages, and don't see that anyone has tried the F version of the PI yet. Has anyone? I'm hoping to pop out my Omega PID this weekend and do a 'wet run' with it and see how it goes. The #1 thing I don't like about the current PID is that it takes FOREVER to get the last...

Magnet advice for home built stir plate

I used a similar arrangement, except I used plain steel washers (but did not think to use my 'antique' milling machine. Brilliant! CNC....so jealous). The washer was glued in place, and the rare earth magnets (from Home Depot) are 'stuck' to the washer simply by the magnets. I have 3 different...

    Liquid Yeast Sux

I've had very good luck with liquid yeasts, with starters. It's really not that hard....or expensive. Just this past weekend I broke out some ECY10 yeast that I saved from the starter the last time I used it (about 20ml, last propagated Jan 2015), and with 1 qt of free wort (AG second runnings...

Czech brewery, goulash & beer bread!

Thanks for sharing that. My wife and I are going on a Rhine River cruise in Oct, and planning some days after to visit a few cities/countries. Prague is at the top of that list, and now I know about a place outside of town to go to!

RIMS is driving me crazy! Help!

As noted above it will produce 6000 watts on 240. In that length I'm surprised your not flashing the worth to steam. It will draw 4 times the current on 240 also. If you want range on the setup, you should go to the long 5500w element which can be used on 120 for RIMS temp control or 240 for...
