    Official Hot Sauce Making Thread

I am glad I found this...funny how similar us homebrewers are eh? I have made many hot sauces using papayas and mangoes, but recently found a chili sauce that I really liked, and though I would make more of a salsa type sauce that I can slather on chicken and eggs in large quantities, that is...

    bottling question...

I tried that and it didn't work very well unfortunately, plus I would like to try my hand at bottling anyways.

    bottling question...

Hi, I have been spoiled and have never had to bottle, I have had a keg from day 1 I have some people that want to try my beer that are out of town, so I got four 600mL bottles (Beau's) that I was planning on using to give them a taste of my next beer. I have read that for a 12 oz bottle you...

adding lime juice to keg of corona clone

thanks, they don't sell that here in Canada though. I just used one of those lime juice squirt bottles at the grocery store, so it was about as easy as adding a packet of powder though

adding lime juice to keg of corona clone

ok, I'm glad I didn't take your advice lol. I used a measuring cup and measured out 8 oz, and then used a graduated 1 mL pipette to find that 1.5 mL of lime juice in the cup was perfect. I hesitated before adding 120 mL to the keg as I still had my doubts. I took 50 mL of the lime juice...

adding lime juice to keg of corona clone

Yeah, this sounds good but I have found that this sort of scaling up tends to not work with cooking very well...

adding lime juice to keg of corona clone

Hi, I made a keg of coopers corona for SWMBO and it turned out great, but since it will be drank out of glasses and pitchers instead of the fancy bottle with a lime wedge, I thought I would just add the lime juice to the keg and forego the hassle of having to cut lime slices or wedges. How much...

    does this recipe sound ok?

thanks guys. Now one last question - if you add the last half of the LME after the boil to avoid the caramelly darkness, would this half not end up boiling and hot breaking? Is this not a problem? I thought you wanted to get the hot break with the malt.

    does this recipe sound ok?

Thanks. Just so that I am clear, you only boil half of your DME? why not all of it? From what I have gathered I have come up with a slightly refined recipe, here goes: I have 500g of the C60, I thought I would use half of that, steep it for 30 minutes, then once it's done add the 3 pounds...

    does this recipe sound ok?

Unionrdr, you say you add the hops in 3 additions...is this while you are boiling the LME? I may go to the store and grab an ounce of hops to add too then...I want to get a baseline, so I won't add as much as you quite yet.

    does this recipe sound ok?

no hops, I assumed that the coopers kit would have enough in it. I added hops to another kit beer and it was hops overkill, so I am not planning on adding any.

    does this recipe sound ok?

oh geez, I got it at the LHBS thinking I could replace my dextrose with it. OK, so if I leave it out does everything else look good?

    does this recipe sound ok?

I have now made a couple kit beers, and I am about to make another, and want it to taste good. My last ones have had that cidery taste from the pound of dextrose I have been using, and I don't like it. I went on beer calculus and plugged in some stuff and just want to run it by you to see if I...

my first brew is in the keg :)

Thanks guys, I am now officially hooked, if my first ever homebrew with all the available newby mistakes tastes this decent then there is hope to make a truly good beer in my near future :mug:

my first brew is in the keg :)

ok, so the CO2 seems to be perfect at 15 psi, and the yeast haze is slowly disappearing. AND the best part is that the hops are mellowing too :) The beer is actually quite good now! What a difference a couple days have made! Even the wife likes it, I thought she would hate it, but she snuck a...
