Any suggestions for Mountain View or San Jose, CA?

Well I'm being sent there to work for a bit, and would like to drink some nice beers, all too familiar with the usual American Pish that ends up in the toilets around Ireland. So, how bout it then? Will be staying in Mountain View most likely, working in SJ. Cheers Ken

    Now that's a beer bomb!

"What a waste of beer!" was what I thought. I don't believe in heaven or hell though, so I'm probably ok :o)

    Hello all

Hi folkies, it's been a while since I got a chance to get onto the forum, since we left Asia the internet access has been pretty expensive, so it's been a case of getting the blog updated and pictures up and a few emails. We're in NZ at the moment, south Island. We're planning on heading back...

been in Oz for the last 5 weeks or so, tried a fair few different brews. some good, some not so good. my favourites have been coopers: Pale Ale, Stout. Boags. Tooheys Old. Squires (MSB): Golden Ale, Rum Barrelled Porter and Amber Ale. Also LOVED Blue Tongues Ginger beer - delicious -will try...

    Best beer

Yeah thats the same bottle you get in Belgium too. It's just glass sprayed whitish. I have a case of them at home I'll be using when I get home to brew again. Look the business.

    Best beer

Oh nothing to do with the beer I'm afraid, just that as a European, Asia is a class place, and China is a rocking place. The great wall, some of the scenery around Yunnan, the people are nice. The beer is nothing special, although there are plenty of different beers, they are all pretty weak...

Every Asian Beer I've Had Was Good

And I think therein lies the problem, line 1, word 9. Can. Cans never taste as good as bottles. I dunno why, but anytime I've had cans instead of bottles it's been a disappointment. Tsingtao is pretty drinkable over here in China, but there's a few nicer ones - Snow and Blue Sword are pretty...

    Best beer

I'd definitely put Delerium Tremens forward as a contender for (one of the!) BEST BEERS IN THE WORLD. Even as an Irishman and a dedicated follower of Guinness (when in Ireland - never abroad) I'd not put it in the same league as DT. It's a great session beer, but it's nothing special. There are...

    Laotian beer a success!

They have Dark Beer Lao too - it's pretty nice as well!

Every Asian Beer I've Had Was Good

Yeah Beer Chang is Elephant beer. Apparently the process is a bit hit and miss, so you can end up with rocket fuel and mad dreams, or nothing. I got a hangover from hell after 3 pitchers of it. I preferred Leo beer in Thailand, similar to beer Lao. My favourite beer that I have discovered so...

    I miss my homebrew.....

I've been travelling in SE Asia since Jan 16th, and although I've managed to sample several different beers since then, I miss not being able to homebrew. I'm always dreaming up ways I can make a new setup when I get back home, whenever that is..... So far I've been to the following countries...

    Whats this Oxyclean stuff

So it's a cleaner rather than a sanitizer, thats fine. i might get a little and see how it works, and to make sure it doesn't leave any film etc. I'm not sure it's exactly the same though.

    Whats this Oxyclean stuff

I generally store empties in a bin full of bleach and then do a second sanitizing session with VWP. Heard that the oxyclean is good for stripping bottles of labels and for decrudding fermenters etc. is it no-rinse, or rinse??
