    New thermometer needed, which one?

I'm a big fan of my http://www.thermoworks.com/RT301WA reads in about 6-7 sec, accurate and inexpensive. I'm gonna get another one for the kitchen

What would be your next improvement?

I make a list of wants every time I brew. I have three categories that I put those in, better beer, cheaper beer, and easier brew day. Once something has been on there for a few brews I move it up in the queue line of things to buy. Adding electric to my system was one of these. I can mash at...

Canning Jar Trub/Yeast Harvester for Conical

So I tried to make one of these and failed. I tried with a hole saw and a used green lee punch, I'm guessing it was pretty dull. I decided to cut my losses and ask for help. I heard Jaybird would make custom fittings so I shot him a PM. He said he would give it a go and I sent him my remaining...

    Concial fermenter

I'd be very interested. If it had 1.5" tri-clamp fittings, one on the bottom of cone for yeast dump, one on side of cone for transferring to keg, and one on lid for blow off tube. A thermowell port would be nice to. The ferrules are cheap should be pretty easy to weld.

    l6-30 to l14-30 question

You can put a l14-30 male on one end of a 10/3 soow cable and l6-30 female on the other and make your own adapter. If your using 220v you don't hook up the neutral on the l14-30 side. If your using 120v you don't hook up one of the two hot sides.

Getting back into brewing, want to upgrade system

I brew and ferment in my unheated garage. I use an upright freezer and have a little 200w space heater, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003XDTWN2/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20. We had a week of single digit temperatures here and it held 65 deg. just fine. If you don't open the door it will hold the...

    Facelift for my control panel

Cool so less than 15kwh a brew. I can live with spending $2 a brew day on water heating costs.

How many KWH are you using per brew day? I've always been curious about my brew day power usage.

    Confession Time

My keezer as been up and flowing since 12-2014 and I've never cleaned the lines. The beer is still great that comes out.

Hops growing up close to a power pole

Is it public or private? If I were harvesting them I would feel better knowing the power is off. Power lines can arc to you even if you don't touch them if the conditions are right.

    10 Gallon: Electric vs Gas

I love my electric set up. No more going to the store to fill up propane tanks. I'm sure I'm even saving money in my water heating costs. I thought about buying a good burner, was using a turkey fryer burner, but instead used that $100 to put toward electric. One of the best decisions I've made...

Anyone else not buy retail beer?

Our supermarket sells individual 12oz craft beers for 1.79. So I usually pick up one bottle for something different every week. Other than that its all home brew for me.

    First Time Conical

RDWHAHB I had one take 72 hrs before bubbles. I was worried after 48 like you, opened up looked like krausen. The next day when I came home from work it was going like crazy. I could of fixed the seal when I closed it back up though. Beer turned out great.

    Why I support my LHBS

Mine tells me when im nearly out of co2. IT goes down slowly after all the liquid co2 is gone. It gives me a 1-2 day warning that I need to get more.

    Transitioning to kegging

I use a growler filler for my faucet and put a bottling wand on the hose with a #2 drilled stopper. Works great and only cost $10 because I already had wand.
