New house, new electrical advice needed!

If the AC unit is only 5 feet from the panel, my vote goes to running a dedicated line from the panel to the garage. 5 more feet means you've done it the right way and I'm assuming you'll need to install a GFCI breaker anyway (in lieu of the standard breaker that the AC unit exists on). Is...

American Pale Ale (Mosaic, Amarillo, Citra and Simcoe hopped)

Thanks KChrome, looks great. I pitched 1056 and got good clearing in one of my two vessels. Mixed, it's a hair cloudy, so I'm going to have to cold crash to get decent clarity I think. Mine fermented at about 62-65 degrees.

    Pump Sucking Air During Mash

Out of curiosity and with little actual useful contribution to your problem, Are you using Rice Hulls during your recirc? I've taken to tossing them in every batch now. Basically cheap insurance, and we haven't seen any trouble with getting nice recirc through the HERMS coil now. We even...

    I Blew It

Sounds like your conversions might be a little off for mashing. Colder, dryer... What kinda beer were you shooting for? I'd imagine this is going to turn out fine although maybe not quite as you planned. No real concern about sanitation since you'll still need to do your boil.

Got an infecction... What to do?

Sounds like what happened. My vote goes to dump, for this simple fact. Next time, avoid that.:mug:

    Grain Mills - Your opinion?

No one has mentioned the Capt'n Crush from Northern yet. Assume it's too expensive for what you're getting, but I do like the design. Would be curious to hear anyone's thoughts on it if they have actually used it...

American Pale Ale (Mosaic, Amarillo, Citra and Simcoe hopped)

Just brewed a similar(ish) receipe (first time on my new equipment) and I'm excited to try it out. I kegged it up yesterday evening and set it to 12psi for a slow-carb. Mine lacked the Mosaic Hops, but otherwise has a VERY similar hop profile throughout. I managed 1.053 OG, 1.011 FG...

    Grain Mills - Your opinion?

Cereal Killer for me, no complaints at all. Price is awesome, it works great for my use. I would mention that you should check the default crush gap though, because I found it to be a bit tight.

Unexpected Krausen Reaction to Stainless Brew Bucket, Infected? Any thoughts?

We do have very hard water which I don't spend too much effort adjusting. As long as the beer is fine, I can live with discolored steel on the lid. I may have another pass at it wit a vinyl scrub pad and then re-passivate the whole thing. Interesting that it only happened after I dry hopped...

    Post your infection

Cross posting this, since I'm not sure if I caught a bug: No furry bits on the wort or krausen to indicate mold, no film across the wort, no other weird flavors in the beer that I can tell (drank a bit uncarbed, I'm still alive). Split the batch between this stainless ferm and a glass carboy...

Unexpected Krausen Reaction to Stainless Brew Bucket, Infected? Any thoughts?

Hey Guys, First time brewing into my Stainless Brew Bucket and I had a kinda odd reaction that I wanted feedback on. The Brew Bucket was rinsed thoroughly with one-step, then sanitized with Star San solution for about 30 minutes prior to pitching. Fermentation took 10 days (initial) and...

Perfect fan for stir plate build - with potentiometer - $5 shipped

Here's the absolute cheapest implementation of this I could come up with. Used a left over wall wart from a defunct game system, two hard disk magnets laminated, a fender washer, and some glue to put it together. Spins a great vortex all the way up to 100% speed (which is complete overkill...

backflush cleaner through corny gas post?

I remove both posts and tubes every batch and rinse then starsan them. Probably overkill, but it only takes an extra 5 minutes to do and I know I've got a nice clean keg for the next batch.

    stainless steel table.

I picked up one from Webstaurantstore.com, pretty reasonable price shipped, with the lip on the back to keep liquid and other stuff from rolling off of it. Mine easily has handled 20+ gallon of liquid weight, plus 20lbs of grain weight, plus equipment.

    Hunter's Basement E-Brewery Build

Good brew-day on Satudrday 3/8: We used the same recipe as I posted above, but got a little crazy at the end and threw 2oz of 5min hops in to increase the nose a bit (we hope). This batch came out extremely light with the all-pilsner malts and I'm curious what the cleared color will look...

    Hunter's Basement E-Brewery Build

Running another batch tomorrow, going into the new conical. Making a more simple recipe, originally planned on a pure SMASH batch, but I'm going to add a little corner and lean it more toward a pilsner (lawn mower beer!). Tentatively it looks like I'm running with: 17lbs German Pilsner...
