    I love a rich, French Cadbury Soulvino. Robost and goes great with a Fillet Mignon pairing.

    Michigan allows a homebrew club in a pub (as long as the pub signs off). I guess you could allow other patrons to join for a nominal "membersip fee".

    If you really want that last pint of wort, strain away. There should be no oxydation issues with chilled sort. The main objective is to get the brew off the hop and protein sludge.

    Correct. There is minimal difference in flavor. Another negative may include chlorine taste in unboiled city tap water.

    Definitely allways syphon beer to 2ndary. I like to syphon wort to primary as well so funnels aren't necessary. The loss is minimal and may be considerred a sacrifice to the beer gods.

    I'd check gravity again at 48 hours. If no change sprinkle another packet in. Was the yeast dated as fresh?

    I bet if you roasted some malt with tobacco it would provide that "grandpa" scent and flavor. Similar to the peat flavor in Scotch.

    How long until I can try my beer?

    I give my ipa's about 6 weeks total (includes 2 weeks in bottle/keg) before serving. Iipa's get about 8-10 weeks until serving. Each recipe will be different. Experiment and sample along the way.

    Wort volume question

    In an extract kit you will see the mentioned hop utilization and the requiment to cool down more wort. Get a chiller device ready as an ice bath won't work effectively.
