    Beer Gas setup HELP

I have a similar setup, 2 perlick C02 and 2 stout taps on beer gas. I've tried a few ways to carb up what I push with beer gas. Here what I know do. On keg day I purge/seal with beer gas. When I put it into the fridge, I carb it up with beer gas, and I push with beer gas, all at about 20psi...

Brewing Supplies in Salem, New Hampshire

Boarder Brew is great. I'll share an experience I had recently. We needed Wyeast 1099, had my buddy pick it up and brought it over to make a starter. We then realized it was about 5 months old. Oh well, that's what a starter is for right? Well after about 36 hours, nothing. We went back to...

    Best digital thermometer

Awesome, you'll really like it. We did have a 'problem' recently. All of a sudden one of our thermometers just started reading 400, 22, 650, etc. every few seconds. Oooohh no here we go.. So I called them up and the guy was pretty surprised I had a problem. It was under warranty so he...

Monster Mill MM3-2.0 vs Schmidling MaltMill - help!

We had our first brew day with the mill. We went for a simple 15 gallon blonde, just in case we had a problem, and plan to flavor it. The milling went great. We each took a turn milling with the crank (wow.. that is a lot of work) and then hooked up the battery powered drill. After 1 and a...

    New stout tap.....too much foam!

I had problems figuring out how to get my stout stuff to work too. What to make it with C02 and then what to do on nitro, etc. In the end, here is what I do. Keg it, put it straight on beer gas at about 25, and carb it that way in the fridge. I know it cost me more since it uses more beer...

    Midwest Keg Sale

My favorite part of kegging is giving rude gestures to my bottling gear when I walk by it. However once and a while I bottle if I have something I want to age, so fine, I'll bottle that up. However, I've now 'fixed' that. I took advantage of the keg connection keg deal and I'm up to 10 now...

    Brew set up upgrade question

Something I might also look at is trying to save time and look for value. Is there some cheap/easy upgrades that you just don't have? Some things I can think of: an extra large autosiphon (I think there are at least 2 sizes) nylon hop bags a spray bottle with starsan and water in it a wine...

    Brew set up upgrade question

If you don't keg already, I'd do that. It gives you the option to larger in a keg, it's much faster (more time to brew!), if you put a nitro tank/tap on you can't replicate that with bottles, etc. However considering you have Blichmann gear, I would guess you already keg.

Monster Mill MM3-2.0 vs Schmidling MaltMill - help!

Ah, and one more thing. The base has these 3 rubber bumps on the bottom. It makes it so it fits exactly into a 5 gallon home depot bucket, very impressive.

Monster Mill MM3-2.0 vs Schmidling MaltMill - help!

I got my Malt Mill today, wow I'm impressed. Excellent packaging and what a solid product. I just had to attached the Large Hopper Adapter (2 bolts) and the base (2 bolts), very easy. It's already adjusted and has a little notch so I can always get it back to factory spec, very nice. Clearly...

    Homebrew at my wedding

I recently labeled wine bottles for gifts. I went on amazon and searched for avery wine labels. Once I got them I went the avery website and they have a great tool, you just punch in the label model number you bought and use their tool to put on a picture and words. You can then save your...

    I grew a beard...

Nice work. I have a long goatee and I get my best brew results when I braid it. More likely to hit the target OG, I don't miss my hop additions, etc. Smart move sir.

    Airlock's Little Plastic Cap

Oh good. I'm just about to go to bed. At least I'll know where my nightmare tonight came from.

    Airlock's Little Plastic Cap

I'd sanitize a piece of tin foil and rubber band it on. It won't be air tight so you won't need to poke holes. And as a matter of fact if you every don't have an air lock you can just do this on the fermenter. In fact that's how I air lock my starters on my flasks.

    only second all grain-missed OG

For my 5 gallon batches I sparge out 6.5 gallons and it usually boils down to just over 5. For my 15 gallon batches (which uses a bigger kettle) I usually do 18 gallons and it boils down to just over 15. I've just taken notes over time of the outside temp and how much I've lost during boil...

Kegconnection's Black Friday / Cyber Monday Blowout!

I got my stuff on Friday, I had ordered 5 minutes after the deadline (which they extended). I love these guys. I got my 2 kegs and what I love about every keg I've gotten from them is the lovely 'pssstt..' when I pull the air release and wonderful line cleaner smell. I could have bought kegs...

    POS siphon!

No way is it ruined. Don't worry about it. I've found extra 02 only matters if it's a beer you plan on aging or keeping around for many months. Even then, it's still beer and the 02 won't ruin it, just dull or change the flavor. And what you describe isn't long term 02 so I think it's fine...

    Thermometer quandry

I have a little write up about the thermometer I use: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/best-digital-thermometer-314825/index2.html Thermoworks has excellent support.

    POS siphon!

From my experience it's usually more then just some exposure to 02 to screw the beer it. If you shake the crap out of it or leave it exposed for a length of time, that is more of an issue. If you are really worried, just drink this batch quickly! :)

    Airlock converted to blowoff tube?

Yep, that is what I do for a blow off. The only bad part I've found is the tube pretty much once on, stays on. I haven't been able to get it off w/o breaking the plastic. Air locks are cheap though so I just keep them with the tube on.
